The "Breaking News" above about Agagu's arrest is gradually making its way through all the Nigerian Papers, but no details available as yet.

In the meantime, Our Governor Mimiko is making headlines for all THE BEST REASONS. The papers have his photo with Prof Wole Soyinka (IROKO AND KONGI), at the maiden edition of Obafemi Awolowo Foundation Centenary lecture series titled “Between Nationhood and Nation Space.”
Our Governor gave a very positive and encouraging speech at the occassion and promised to follow the footsteps and carry on with the ideals of Papa Awolowo; starting with Free Education.

AGAGU'S SHAME WILL KNOW NO END. HOW ARE THE POWERLESS POWES FALLEN!

Ondo State be happy and remain peaceful, for God is in control :)

ANOTHER BREAKING NEWS - PM REPORTS:

BREAKING NEWS: Agagu Arrested
March 04, 2009 17:02 (2 hours ago), 242 views

Dr. Olusegun Agagu, former governor of Ondo state, has been arrested by men of the economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC).

Agagu was arrested, this morning, in Abuja, for allegedly looting and mismanaging the treasury of the oil-rich state. According to saharareporters.com, Agagu was about to perfect his escape to Australia, when he was nabed.

BEFORE YOU JUMP TOO HIGH FOR JOY, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT POST RIBADU EFCC IS MORE A TOOTHLESS DOG THAN EVER. WHAT HAPPENED TO IBORI, IGBENIDION, EHINDERO ET AL? HOPEFULLY AGAGU WILL NOT ESCAPE THE NET. WE WAIT FOR FOR FULL REPORT BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY WAIT FOR EFCC ACTION ON AGAGU'S ARREST.

PEACE MY PEOPLE.

Please let peace reign in Ondo State and do not take the laws into your hands come what may. See how Governor Mimiko won the battle. Not by show of force, not by brutish means and definitely not by bloodshed. GOD IS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH AND FATE.

This is breaking news from The nation Newspaper:

Mimiko dissolves Ondo councils

Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko has dissolved the 18 local governments in the state.

A statement today by his Chief press Secretary (CPS) kolawole Olabisi said the Directors of Administration had been directed to take over the councils administration.

The directors were directed to ensure the safety of government properties.

This Governor sure knows what he is doing. Better to start on a clean slate, else these vestiges of the years of the locust will contaminate this new administration.

Ride on People's Governor

NATION PAPER REPORTS ON MIMIKO'S PROGRESS:

Mimiko, legislators end row over frozen councils’ accounts 3/3/2009

From Damisi Ojo, Akure

Ondo State Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and of the House of Assembly yesterday resolved their differences over Mimiko’s freezing of accounts of the local government areas.

The two parties met yesterday in Akure, behind closed doors, and pledged to work together in the state’s interest.

The lawmakers had threatened to impeach Mimiko for usurping their powers over council administration.

They argued that the governor lacked the power to freeze the councils’ accounts as only the House could do so.

The Speaker, Mr. Taofeek Abdusalam, told reporters after the meeting that the disagreement between them had been resolved.

Mimiko said the freezing of the state’s accounts would not affect governance and payment of workers’ salaries.

He said provision had been made to meet the expenses of government, adding that as soon as he is properly briefed on the positions of the capital expenses, the government would decide on what to do.

He, however, attributed the impeachment threat to a misrepresentation of facts by the media.

He said both the executive and legislature were partners in progress, adding that they will work harmoniously for the state’s growth.

Mimiko yesterday received more congratulatory messages.

South-West governors and traditional rulers in the zone also congratulated Mimiko on his victory at the Court of Appeal.

The geo-political political and traditional leaders, in a statement yesterday by the Co-ordinator, Council of the South-West Governors and Traditional Rulers, Mr. Alao Adedayo, wished the governor a successful tenure in office.

The council was happy that Mimiko allowed the judiciary to be the final arbiter in the election dispute.

"You saved the Yoruba nation, and the Ondo State people in particular, the agony and consequence of blood-letting which could have been the fall-out if you had chosen other means than the court of law to fight you cause," it added.

Also yesterday, Mimiko announced the appointment of ace broadcaster, Mr. Ladi Akeredolu Ale, at the Director-General of the State Radio-vision Corporation (OSRC).

He replaces Mr. Soji Alakuro, who was appointed by the ousted Governor Olusegun Agagu.

Until his appointment, Ale was Controller of News, Channels Television, Lagos.

Mimiko said: "The recent experience in OSRC is unwholesome, people watched how public institution was used against the people, and we want to re-brand the corporation to compare favourably with any other across the world."

He said because of the ugly experience of the past, his administration shopped around for competent hands to bring back the lost glory of the station, adding that Ale, who he described as a veteran of 20 years in broadcasting, has won several professional awards.

He said Ale has the mandate to re-engineer OSRC to be one of the best in the country.

Ale thanked Mimiko for not the appointment, adding that his appointment was a home-coming after sojourning outside the state for many years.

I feel so glad when I hear comments on this forum when blogger say they have not meet each other before but yet they share common opinion on matters relating to democrasy and the state as a whole. I wish this can be replicate in all the other state. I have drawn so much ideas from this forum. Thanks Admin.

I am sure Admin gets our drift and we shall develop a "next level" forum on this worthy site.

God bless :)

Humility per excellence. This is a rare virtue now in Nigeria especially among our political elites. This governor is amazingly humble. The arrogance of the PDP is nauseating and that was what led to their downfall in Ondo State. The slogan of POWER JOO; POWER JARE is teribly annoying. They forgot that all power belong to God and in democracy power belong to the people. I am sure they now know that pride will always go before a fall.
@Admin: Please count me in among the people who will continue to participate in this forum for a long time. I come from a politically conscious family in Ondo State and they continue to feed me with developments in my local government and the state in general, but my continued participation in this forum will give me an opportunity to monitor objectively events across the nooks and crannies of the state. The difference between our new governor and the period of the locust needs comparison and contrast. This forum is fortunate to have comentators who are very passionate about progress and development in Ondo state and I am proud to be associated with you all. I will not forget omotaylor with whom I have lengthy exchange of information during the appeal period.
Peace y'all.
