The following excerpts from Nigerian dailies capture the strategy of an incumbent PDP governor in Nigeria [Ondo State] who has resolved to news media and some sycophants to validate his stolen mandate.

This is an excerpt from the Nigerian newspaper ThisDay on Ondo state deputy governor who hijacked some ballot boxes during the state elections in the state.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to prosecute the deputy governor of Ondo State, Otunba Omolade Oluwateru, for allegedly hijacking ballot boxes at Continental Area of the state capital, Akure, during the April 14 Governorship and State Assembly elections. Oluwateru, the sitting deputy governor, was the running-mate to the state governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Olusegun Agagu during the April 14 governorship and state assembly polls during which the duo sought re-election.”

Yet, a traditional chief in the state [Oba Adesina] sees what millions of the state residents didn’t. In a story featured in The Nation, the Oba described the governor’s re-election as:

“A clear testimony and appreciation by the people of Ondo State of his progressive governance and leadership, which had all along been sound, visionary and purposeful… It is our firm belief that, with this mandate, the laudable achievements of your government witnessed by the state through your people-oriented programmes during your first tenure in office, and which are clearly visible in all nooks and crannies of this state, would be multiplied and consolidated in another four years of governance.”

The statement credited to this traditional ruler defies any logical explanation. And he’s not the only one; several individuals and organizations in the state have sponsored congratulatory messages in the dailies.

I personally stand by his Royal Highness, Oba Oluwadare Adesina, The Deji of Akureland; whose image, personality and integrity are being soiled by Agagu and his cohorts. I know Deji personally, and we share the same views regarding the sufferings of our people. I say with authority that HRH will never personally involve himself in Agagu or PDP kind of politics. He is the peoples’ king, and they love him so dearly for the truth he stands for, and protects all the time. By virtue of his position, these two cannot be separated in terms of Ondo state government, but for Kabiyesi to tarnish his own reputation by making such useless comments to endorse Agagu are not part of HRH. Being ordinarily invited to a state function or taking a picture side by side of Agagu is now very costly as he is desperate to exploit all avenues to muster, invoke or force support for his kwashiorkor victory, but the people cannot be fooled. Kabiyesi is ever on the side of his people. I stand to be corrected on this.

1kings vs. 15-40: So Bathsheba went to see the aged king in his room, where Abishag the Shunammite was attending him. Bathsheba bowed low and knelt before the king. “What is it you want?” the king asked. She said to him, “My lord, you yourself swore to me your servant by the LORD your God: ‘Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne.’ But now Adonijah has become king, and you, my lord the king, do not know about it. He has sacrificed great numbers of cattle, fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the king’s sons, Abiathar the priest and Joab the commander of the army, but he has not invited Solomon your servant. My lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to learn from you who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him. Otherwise, as soon as my lord the king is laid to rest with his fathers, I and my son Solomon will be treated as criminals.” While she was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet arrived. And they told the king, “Nathan the prophet is here.” So he went before the king and bowed with his face to the ground. Nathan said, “Have you, my lord the king, declared that Adonijah shall be king after you, and that he will sit on your throne? Today he has gone down and sacrificed great numbers of cattle, fattened calves, and sheep. He has invited all the king’s sons, the commanders of the army and Abiathar the priest. Right now they are eating and drinking with him and saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’ But me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon he did not invite. Is this something my lord the king has done without letting his servants know who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?” Then King David said, “Call in Bathsheba.” So she came into the king’s presence and stood before him. The king then took an oath: “As surely as the LORD lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble, I will surely carry out today what I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel: Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place.” Then Bathsheba bowed low with her face to the ground and, kneeling before the king, said, “May my lord King David live forever!” King David said, “Call in Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” When they came before the king, he said to them: “Take your lord’s servants with you and set Solomon my son on my own mule and take him down to Gihon. There have Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel. Blow the trumpet and shout, ‘Long live King Solomon!’ Then you are to go up with him, and he is to come and sit on my throne and reign in my place. I have appointed him ruler over Israel and Judah.” Benaiah son of Jehoiada answered the king, “Amen! May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, so declare it. As the LORD was with my lord the king, so may he be with Solomon to make his throne even greater than the throne of my lord King David!” So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Kerethites and the Pelethites went down and put Solomon on King David’s mule and escorted him to Gihon. Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the sacred tent and anointed Solomon. Then they sounded the trumpet and all the people shouted, “Long live King Solomon!” And all the people went up after him, playing flutes and rejoicing greatly, so that the ground shook with the sound.
Iroko, no more long talk, this is your portion in God’s mighty name, amen.

THE KABIYESI IS PLAYING THE GAME OF A ROYAL FATHER WHO KNOWS HIS ONION AS FATHER OF ALL.
AGAGU IS ONLY TRYING TO MANUFACTURE PUBLICITY BY INVITING HIM TO THE GOVERMENT HOUSE. ANY WAY EITHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT, IT HAS NOT DAWN ON THEM THAT THEIR DAYS ARE NUMBERED BECAUSE THEY NOW FIND IT DIFFICULT TO MOVE ABOUT FREELY. I KNOW AGAGU WILL STILL TAKE HIS FABRICATED CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHURCH AND CELEBRATE HIS SO CALLED RE-ELECTION VICTORY.
    ANYWAY WE ARE WASHING THEM.

IT IS A COUNTRY LIKE NIGERIA THAT A SITTING DEPUTY GOVERNOR LIKE OLUWATERU WILL STILL BE EXIBITING JOY IN SNATCHING A BALLOT BOX. A PERSONIFIED ARMED ROBBER INDEED.

There are two sides to a coin. As Agagu is indeed showing just one side of the coin in falsity, then it is only proper for the Obas and people mentioned as supporting wickedness in high places to refute albeit through their spokesman any lies told on them. If as father of all they cannot openly challenge and rebuke Agagu, then they could issue statements showing that while the matter on ground is not settled, they have not taken sides. Sorry but I dont buy it 100%. MIMIKO is also an Ondo State indigene and a wronged, cheated, oppressed and aggrieved one! So why and how is it fair to allow Agagu to use Obas names in his propaganda aimed at showing the people of Ondo state and Nigeria that he has the seal of approval and he is being endorsed as Ondo State Governor post 2007 elections when clearly HE IS NOT. Let us rationalise further on this. What effects are all these press releases having on the people especially as Agagu wrongfully beleives that time heals all wounds? What effects are all these timed and deliberate falsities aimed at having on the Electoral Courts re MIMIKO’s appeal? If we all know the truth, believe in justice and want the right thing to be done in Ondo state, why allow our names to be identified with evil? We all pray that KI AIYE MA TA EPO SI ALA WA. Agagu will go down in shame and of course make it embarassing for people who are now identified with him to later welcome and embrace the truth. Anyway, MIMIKO being a gallant, well meaning and forgiving son of God will not hold any bias but I thank God for lessons being learnt daily, for exposures geared at warning us and making us more vigilant and for the WISDOM OF GOD that we all pray for in this University of life story. IROKO YI JO GBA SIBE. ALL THINGS WORK FOR GOOD FOR THOSE WHO TRUST IN THE LORD. ALAGBAKA AWAITS YOU. It takes more than empty talks, false adulations and deceit to dethrone the truly ELECTED GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE DR OLUSEGUN RAHMAN MIMIKO. GOD IS ON THE THRONE and is moving mightily and miraculously and will confound all workers of iniquity in Jesus name (amen). IROKO YI JOOO GBA SIBEEEEE, MIMIKO MAMIKAN O JAREEEEEEEE.
