Officials of State Security Services (SSS) on Monday discovered thumb-printed ballot papers abandoned at St Martin’s Primary School on Oke Padre Street, Akure.
Ondo Labour Party (LP) quickly latched on to it as a vindication of its insistence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rigged the elections in favour of Governor Olusegun Agagu.
The discovery came from a tip off by surprised pupils and staff of the school who resumed for the third term on Monday and found boxes filled with thumb-printed ballot papers left in a classroom.
LP officials informed the SSS.
A statement issued by LP Director of Press, Kolawole Olabisi, regretted that the development confirms that the will of the people was subverted by the government which hijacked genuine election results and destroyed or abandoned them.
He recalled that several cases of abandoned boxes with thumb-printed ballots and materials have been reported in several parts of the state.
Penultimate Sunday, he recounted, a food vendor found stuffed ballot boxes at AUD Comprehensive High School, Ondo.
The boxes were for Okelisa ward in Ondo city and contained votes cast for LP governorship candidate, Olusegun Mimiko, who hails from there.
LP said the boxes discovered at St Martin’s Primary School – with serial number E95517179 and which was meant for ward 7, Odopetu Polling Unit 018 Owoduni/Continental Hotel – was one of those allegedly snatched by the deputy governor from the polling unit on April 14.
“As has been revealed by this shocking find, the ballot boxes contained genuine votes cast by the people of Ondo State who voted massively for the LP all over the state during the April 14 elections and those of the National Assembly the following weekend,” Olabisi noted.
“Even a cursory look at the stuffed ballot boxes showed that all political parties that participated in the said elections had votes cast for them. But because it was obvious that the LP was leading by a wide margin, PDP thugs snatched the boxes with guns and dumped them in this primary school. No doubt, they had intended to come back and destroy them, but because God confused them, they forgot and their antics have been exposed.
“How many of electoral materials have been destroyed in this manner and how many are still going to be discovered in the days to come is a matter of pure conjecture. But, as we have consistently said, our hope lies in the judiciary.
“By the grace of God, the mandate enthusiastically given to our party, the LP, by the good people of Ondo State who voted against four years of waste, four years of a family oligarchy in Ondo State, four years of surfaced-dressed roads and other infrastructure will be retrieved through the electoral tribunal.
“We have absolute confidence in the rule of law and that is why we have continued to enjoin our supporters to refrain from acts of violence as this stolen mandate will be given back to us by the judiciary.”

The truth will surely prevail at the end. We must however know that we all have our own parts to play. While the legal team continues with the different cases, some of us will have to help with more evidences at our disposal to further show at the tribunal and court how the will of our people was subverted and some of us will have to tarry in the place of prayer that the Lord might not allow all the antics of these anti-people elements (PDP in Ondo State) succeed.
All hands must be on deck until victory is won and we all celebrate.
It’s not a surprise. What we are thankful for is that, God does not shielded these evil-doers, hence the great exposure. INEC has done it’s worst, the Agagu group are “crying” for themselves; thinking that they are celebrating, but after this sorrow, joy is certainly coming for our people. Enough is enough.
As the saying gooes, “Akeregbe lo maa se ibiti won maa f’okun si l’orun e”, Simple!
Even though it’s now an open secret that their victory is timed, we need all the hammers to nail them, and all the coffins to bury them. INEC will take the stand, and they will tell us how 1+1 became 22 in Ondo state.
