Ondo LP petitions tribunal, wants INEC to produce guber election records
Ondo LP petitions tribunal, wants INEC to produce guber election records
From Julius Alabi, Akure Guardian
GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has petitioned the election tribunal sitting at the Akure High Court Two to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make available all the results and relevant documents relating to the last governorship elections.
The party’s Legal Adviser, Mr. Yinka Adeyosoye, spoke with journalists in Akure, the state capital yesterday, shortly after filing the suit at the tribunal. Adeyosoye said what they just did was filing of the process which would enable the party and other opposition parties in the state to have access to all the documents relating to April 14 elections.
According to him, the tribunal had begun sitting but no date had been given to the party for hearing on the matter. “It is left to the tribunal to fix a date for the hearing”, he added.
He stressed that the party, on behalf of Mimiko, was seeking an order of the tribunal to compel INEC to give them access to the results and all the relevant documents relating to the elections.
Adeyosoye lamented that all efforts by the party to have access to the documents and the results had failed as their request had been turned down by INEC, hence the action.
But there was a mild drama yesterday at the Registry when an official initially refused to register the petition on the ground, saying that “she had not been given any directive from Abuja to take any petition or motion from anybody or party”.
“Oga, I have not been given any directive from Abuja to start collecting any petition or motion. Please, let me phone Abuja to confirm whether to take it or not”, the official said.
However, she later accepted the file containing the application after she had called Abuja.
Meanwhile, a coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Akure has condemned the political violence in the state and urged the political class to “tread softly” so as not to break the unity of this country because of their selfish interest.
Addressing journalists in Akure yesterday, leader of the coalition, Mr. Peter Ajayi, said they were concerned about the unity of the country. He added that they had observed that the elections took normal historical pattern in the state in which the stakes and people’s consciousness is normally high while there were “pockets of skirmishes here and there” in the state.
“We are primarily concerned about the peace and stability of the country. We are also concerned about the rights of the people and the unity of the nation. We shall not tolerate individuals, organisations or any section of the media whose intent is to compromise their honour for sensationalism or other selfish interest”, he concluded.

I will be suprised if INEC will ever be able to produce all electoral records and documents as requested by His Excellency Dr MIMIKO and Ondo LP. All the pit toilets would have been stuffed and sealed with the valid ballot papers. But I trust in the power of God to expose enough of the hidden valid and invalid ballot papers to give a clear picture of Dr Mimiko’s landslide majority and victory. This is already happening as pre thumbed printed ballot papers are turning up here and there. We should be pressing for a search warrant to search Alagbaka, Ondo State PDP stalwart houses. Police and INEC suspected officers houses should also be searched
well i just want to know where we are going to on this issue because there are many news outside about this and we want to know when the jugment is going to be done, and I want tribunal to do some that God himself we be happy with them
mimiko make sure u claim the post back from agagu bad govnor
God will claim the stolen mandate back for the right man MIMIKO our Ondo state elected governor who trusting in the Lord, in justice and truth and in doing things the right way has waited patiently this long to get the people’s mandate back from the wrong man forced on Ondo state by a very autocratic, arrogant and now deluded ex president, a mere man who now compares himself to Jesus (or did he mean Judas)?
Anyway Ondo State cant wait for Mimiko to start really GOVERNING Ondo state and touching on all the things he promised in his Election Manifesto – Room enough for all to do well by Ondo State.

MIMIKO IS OUR RIGHT MAN 4 EVER
The Ondo State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has lambasted Dr. Olusegun Agagu over snide comments he has been making in the media against the party and its gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, in his desperate attempt to buy legitimacy for the massive rigging which brought him in as governor of the State during the April 14, 2007 gubernatorial election.
Specifically, LP urged the embattled governor not to assume the position of a judge in his own matter but rather to wait for the outcome of the petition against his purported victory at the disputed election which is already before the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure, the State capital. It equally warned Agagu to stop wasting billions of taxpayers’ money on a wild goose chase while the welfare and happiness of the people of Ondo State which should be his priority are being neglected.
Agagu had last week took 6 out of the 13 gubernatorial candidates who contested the April 14 election in Ondo State to far away Abuja where he addressed a press conference and attempted to cast aspersions on the person of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and the LP in his desperate attempt to gloss away the fact that he won the election through the barrel of guns and with the active connivance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which concocted results for him even where elections were not allowed to hold.
In its official reaction to Agagu’s latest antics over the weekend, the Labour Party while warning that Agagu’s comments and actions are subjudice as the matter he has been commenting on was already in court insisted that it was therefore illegal for him to talk on it either on the television or in the newspapers as he had done at the Abuja press conference and other interviews which he has continue to grant.
According to a release issued by the party’s Director of Press, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, Agagu’s action dipicted a desperate man who would do anything including cutting corners to hang unto a mandate that was not given to him by the people of Ondo State who voted him out on April 14 having failed to give them the dividends of democracy despite the fact that he collected over N250 billion as allocation in his first term in office.
Said he: “Since the announcement of the gubernatorial election results in Ondo State, Dr. Agagu has been busy telling the world WHY he won the election and not HOW he won it. He has thus spent more time campaigning after the election than before the election became of HOW he won.
“His latest antic is to give the impression that the gubernatorial candidates of six out of the 13 political parties which contested the April 14, 2007 gubernatorial election in Ondo State have seen the wisdom in accepting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC’s) manufactured results and team up with the PDP to work with Agagu.
“Going by the concocted results that gave Dr. Olusegun Agagu the position of a temporary governor of Ondo State, all the gubernatorial candidates of the six political parties combined are Lilliputians. The statistics, even from this contentious INEC results, show that all of them put together scored a paltry eight percent (8%) of the total votes cast in the State during the April 14, 2007 gubernatorial election.
According to Olabisi, the situation in Akure, the State Capital and, therefore, the melting pot of all the citizens of Ondo State, is more revealing of the political irrelevance of the 6 candidates “as all the
6 political parties scored only 5,568! And even if we add the vote of the PDP, all the seven parties (PDP inclusive), scored 28,500 votes while the Labour Party alone scored 34,209 votes.”
He, therefore, noted that from all these, it was clear that the six political parties have no mandate “and therefore have nothing to lose for supporting illegality and indeed, the six Governorship candidates did not have the mandate of their political parties to assist Agagu to legalize illegality (without exception, leaders of all the six political parties have since washed their hands off these lightweight politicians).”
The Labour Party equally denied insinuations that it has embarked on negotiations with some traditional rulers over the April 14 elections saying that neither the Labour Party nor its flag bearer, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, was prepared to trade off the wishes of the people of Ondo State who voted massively for Mimiko.
“The recent publications that a delegation of traditional rulers had met Dr. Mimiko in this regard have no basis in fact. While we appreciate the role of the traditional rulers in ensuring peace in their domains, we want to appeal to them to allow righteousness and justice to guide their action in this matter,” the party stated.
It, therefore, appealed to the people of the State to remain calm and be law abiding adding that it is taking all constitutional and legal steps to reclaim the mandate freely given to it by them on April 14, 2007.
Ehem my dear brother Inumidun, as your name decrees, you will be happy, I will be happy, Mimiko will be happy and so will LP and Ondo state. Sadness and fear is for the enemies of progress and hapiness in Ondo State and for all who had a hand in borrowing the people’s mandate as bestowed on Mimiko. The day of reckoning will soon come and the sword of Damocles is ready for action for Agagu will forever fail and regret the day he allowed OBJ to use him cause confusion in Ondo State. Agagu has no leg to stand on, all his attempts at justification, lies, treachery, injustice, bribery and hiring of thugs has failed miserably and as the saying goes he who lives by the sword will die by it.
Yes Mimiko is the awaited Governor for Ondo State,. The people have not given up, the Electoral Trbunal have refused to be bought and they will mete out fairness and truth in their rulings in Jesus name. What has Agagu been able to really boast of doing right in Ondo State? What do the people say about him and his thief theif followers? Nigeria is not a country of dunces and Ondo State is matured and wise and know what is best for them. We shall see the light of day and the warmth of God’s beautiful sunshine will radiate the lives of the honest and poor people of Ondo State. Mimiko will move into Alagbaka and resume a governance that will be the envy of all states in Nigeria. Just as he had proved himself as Commissioner and Minister so will he even better prove that he is made of Sterner stuff and has the right recipe for good and stable governance in Jesus name.
Soon and very soon my people, no fear, for God it is who will decide on the future of Ondo state and not man (Amen).
I BELIEVED THAT AGAGU WILL FOOL,SIMPLY BECAUSE I SAW OLUWATERU AT SAINT JOHN AND MARRY IN DANJUMA,WHEN HIMSELF AND SOME OKADA RAIDERS CAME TO STOLD THE PILLOT PEPPER,.I HAVE MANY PROVE LIKE COMPUTER CD,DIGITAL PHOTO AT HAND……YOUU CAN GET ME THROW MY MAIL adeyinka@lawyer.com
