On Agagu’s N65 Billion Contract
Dr. Olusegun Agagu has justified the award of about N65 billion contracts for various projects by the state in the past six months. He said “it was just a coincidence that all the money were spent about the same time”.
After the judgment of the Garba Nabaruma-led election petition tribunal of July 25 last year in which the April 14, 2007 election of Agagu was voided and the petitioner, Olusegun Mimiko, of the Labour Party (LP) declared as the winner, contracts worth N65 billion had been awarded by the state government.
The appeal filed by Agagu and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the tribunal verdict is now before the Appeal Court in Benin, Edo State.
Covering all sectors such as education, health, road construction and provision of infrastructure, the state government in the awards of the projects, which include the N14.4 billion renovation of the multi-billion naira Owena Multi-Purpose Dam, always concretised the deal with immediate payment of 50 per cent mobilisation fee at the award ceremonies.
Described as unprecedented in the history of the state by Agagu’s critics, the opposition in particular accused the state government of deliberately spending money and committing the state to some nonviable projects.

Agagu should not have been allowed access to Ondo State coffers to avoid unnecessary spending sprees, economical sabotage for Governor Elect and mastered siphoning of what is available in the State and could be put to good use – all PENDING RESULT OF AGAGU’S APPEAL. This in effect would have speeded up the appeal procedure for if we remember, Agagu came to court in November and asked for deferrement of this case with the excuse that he had just hired new counsel. It does not take a genius to work out why Agagu was BUYING TIME to loot to the utmost, placate his followers and croonies and ensure that they all fade into oblivion after they would have LOST their appeal.
I believe the Nigerian legal system shoul tighten all these evil loopholes to avoid such happening in the future. When Agagu was rejected as governor and Dr Mimiko announced as winner and mandate holder for the ~April 07 polls, Agagu should not have continued in office pending appeal. An interim administrator should have held office pending final outcome. Well, Ondo State has learnt a lot in all these.
Peace my people for all these shame of Agagu’s evil reign in Ondo State will soon be over.
Agagu is trying to loot the government account.Im not sure all the awarded contract was written in budget.he was doing all these so that he wouldn,t be probe at the end of the day.Nigeria constitution need some change.Agagu not suppose to be there because election petition has nullified his election.we are not a fool in ondo state.Agagu is like an elephant that will fall.shame on you Agagu!!!!
The EFCC had stopped the payment of the N3.8billion cheque because they saw the contract as “curious and fraudulent.I support your motion@omotaylor.Agagu should not have been allowed to have access to ondo state account.we just need to do something to Nigeria constitution.agagu not suppose to be in government office till now.i would like to hear from man of people iroko kekere..agagu know his fate but he is doing all these to waste time.we all assure victory at the appellete court.LABOUR PARTY! FORWARD EVER!!!
As it was july 25,so shall it be at the appeal court.(Amen)four hundred and sixty eight tortous days and nights. Those were the days between april 14 2007 when Mimiko trounced Agagu at the polls, but was denied the fruit of his sweet victory and july 25,2008 when justice Nabaruma led Election petition Tribunal finally gave him his mandate back.
But this is our Nigeria. The land that flows with Honey and milk but filled with men and women with guile and vile.
Ghana conducted an election on December 7,2008.The new president was sworn-in on january 7,2009.But no,we,the almighty Nigerians must not be compared with Ghana, the land of Nkrumah. No, we can,t be compared. or can we? Ghana now has uninterrupted supply of electricity 24/365.
We can,t be compared in no way with a country where the party in power has lost election on two different occasions to their opponents.
In Nigeria,Obasanjo’s country and Agagu’s Ikaleland.it’s taboo,a mission impossible.if anyone tries it, it’ll be a do or die affair. “Do” for the government and ”Death”,both political and physical for opponents.
But thank God.Thank the almighty father that the horizon is not bleak.
Justice Garba Nabaruma.
It reminds one of the solomonic judgment in the bible.
Though, like the child thief in the bible case,Agagu claimed at the tribunal in Akure that he won the election round and square. He even called many witnesses and attempted to demostrate how he won through mercenary computer expert who could not operate a computer. One witness even swore on oath that he was just three or four years old when he wrote the school certificate Examinations.
They have been vanquished, disgrace and politically emasculated.
And as i was saying, like the child thief in the bible who asked the king to divide the child into two,Agagu is now asking that the election and by extension his victory be nullified and a re-run ordered by tribunal. That is our Nigeria.
But wait, the judicial sledge hammer is yet to come. The one with the one blow of instant death.Death with no chance of resurrection.
That’s after all the abuses and curses rained on the hapless justices of the election tribunal by the agents of darkness and their paymaster.
We pray therefore that the mouths with which they cursed and vilified the judges shall forever be silenced.Their eyes shall see no light as the purveyors of light will forever turn away from them.Their hands with which they loot the peoples’common weath for which they are now being exposed shall wither.
The judgment of july 25,2008 which has brought joy and happiness to the famished people of ondo state shall be affirmed by the federal court of Appeal in Benin. It was judgment of redemption,or rebirth and of hope. So,as it was on July 25,so shall it be at the appeal court(AMEN)
Let us look on the bright side for our God is always good and our God allows things to happen for a good purpose for those who wait and trust in the Lord. Let us see the 468 days and nights as days of learning, experience, toughening up, acquiring greater understanding and patience, and days of trusting God on our side. Let us see the 468 days on the other side as days of them fooling themselves on and displaying to the whole of Ondo State, Nigeria and the world at Large that they are indeed THIEVES. Not just mandate thieves, but money thieves and bereft of conscience and integrity! Is this not what Agagu and his Agagulities have been displaying especially recently when Ondo State treasury has become a free for some eat till you quench experience?
God dey sha. The evil that men do will surely live after them. So let it be with Agagu and Ondo State PDP. AND ABOVE ALL SO LET IT BE WITH AREMU OLUSEGUN OBASANJO, THE REAL DEVIL BEHIND THE DO OR DIE POLITICS THAT HAS SO ROCKED THE ONDO STATE BOAT.
Future rigging will be resisted TRIBUNE
FORMER Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lam Adesina said yesterday that any attempt by any political party to rig future elections in Nigeria will be heavily resisted.
Alhaji Adesina at a media parley marking the celebration of his 70th birthday in Ibadan said, “we will meet force with force, if any group attempts at rigging any election in Nigeria.”
The former governor who is a chieftain of the Action Congress (AC) said he was prepared to lead a crusade against all forms of imposition and money politics.
Describing AC as the only known progressive party in the country, he said it was unfortunate that since 2003, there had not been any government that was genuinely chosen by the electorate.
He observed that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was only daydreaming by saying it will rule the country for six decades.
According to him, in a free and fair election, PDP can’t win five states in Nigeria.
Alhaji Adesina urged President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to uphold the recommendations of Justice Uwais Committee’s report on electoral reform.
He equally condemned the utterances of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Maurice Iwu on elections in Ghana and the United States, saying “Iwu should be taken to the zoo for people to see.”
The former Oyo governor frowned at the attitude of the nation’s leaders who, he said, are in power for selfish motives and not for selfless service.
Alhaji Adesina however said his darkest political period was when the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was to become the president and the powers that be did not allow him.
Open Question to all!!! Are we not Capable to conduct free and fair election in Nigeria?
When the people with integrity and people that have a true knowledge of the workings of Democracy are given the chance to be the overall/lesser bosses at INEC, then yes free and fair elections can be conducted. When people who will never be compromised e.g. Justice Nabaruma are running the legal system, then yes free and fair elections could be conducted. When the people that believe that because they are in power, they should in the devilish spirit of absolute power corrupting absolutely are booted out of governance, then it is possible. When the people who allow themselves to be used as pawns and underdogs to engage in election rigging, for paltry sums of money that will not save them, then yes it is possible. When election riggers are QUICKLY stripped of office and charged and given jail sentences (long term) as a deterrent, then yes prevention would start replacing cure. When the fools who believe they could fool the people while doing evil corrupt things are quickly shown that the people are not fools, then yes, it is possible. When the spirit of God is allowed into the lives of the genarality of the people e.g. the Obama Model, the Ghana Model, then yes Nigeria has a fair chance at free and fair elections. Until these problems, anomalies and power games are tackled and eradicated, we still will have the same age old problems in Nigeria. My question is CAN WE DO IT? What will Obama say? YES WE CAN. Thanks Lekan at Akure, I have tried my own bit in answering your question. Peace

Agagu petitions Yar’Adua over N14bn water project
Written by Leon Usigbe & Tordue Salem
Monday, January 19, 2009
The Government of Ondo State has written a letter to President Umar Yar’Adua protesting attempts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stop its ongoing Owena Multi Purpose Dam Project worth N14.4 billion.
The protest letter signed by the Speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly, Mr. Taofic Abdusalam, and forwarded to President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the state government claimed that EFCC’s move was based on a presumption that payment for the project was never budgeted for and that it rushed the process in anticipation of possible sacking of the state governor, Chief Olusegun Agagu at Federal Court of Appeal. (THIS SPEAKER IS LUCKY TO BE FREE AND ROAMING ABOUT IN SPITE OF HIS ATTROCITIES).
“We have no reason to quarrel with the EFCC for doing its work. It is perfectly normal for the economic watchdog to respond to petitions and take pre-emptive actions to safe-guard public funds that are under threat of misappropriation, misapplication or fraudulent conversion. (IS EFCC NOT INDIRECTLY DOING THE RIGHT THING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONSTITUTIONALLY DONE BY THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT SINCE AGAGU HAS BEEN ORDERED OUT OF OFFICE BY THE TRIBUNAL AND MIMIKO DECLARED GOVERNOR? AGAGU GOING TO APPEAL IS NOT LICENCE TO EMPTY THE STATE COFFERS).
“In doing so, the EFCC has a great deal of responsibility to unearth the facts before drawing conclusions.” (WHAT OTHER FACTS ARE THERE TO UNEARTH. LET US LOOK AT AGAGU’S TRACK RECORD. HOW MUCH DID HE SPEND ON THE STATE IN 2004? 2005? 2006? 2007? AND WHY THE SUDDEN MASSIVE SPENDINGS IN SO MANY AREAS OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS?
In this case, it is clear to us that the watchdog has not only been less than thorough in the handling of the matter, it has also clearly acted with bias and sentiments that assume the guilt of the accused before trial”, it reads in part. WHAT BIAS? WHAT HAS EFCC TO GAIN FROM WHO IN ONDO STATE? EFCC AT LEAST DECIDED TO WAKE UP TO THE TRUTH THAT THE SUDDEN MASSIVE SPENDINGS OF AN OUTGOING IMPOSTOR OF A GOVERNOR IS QUESTIONABLE. IF AGAGU WERE WISE AND CONFIDENT OF WINNING THE APPEAL, HE COULD HAVE HELD ON TO THE STATE BUDGET FOR A FEW MORE WEEKS UNTIL AFTER THE APPEAL.
The letter adds that “The EFCC officials did visit the site of the Dam as well as the area to be covered by the water transmission line. They also visited the ministry of public utilities which has responsibility for the project.
I am aware that the officials were well briefed by their state government counterparts as well as the representatives of the contractors.
“I am also aware that relevant document pertaining to the project and the contract were made available to them. Curiously, however, the EFCC still went ahead to insinuate lack of due process, rushing and corruption when the facts point to the contrary.” PLEASE TELL MR STORY TELLER TO ALERT US TO THE FACTS THAT POINT OTHERWISE OR TO THE CONTRARY. DONT YOU JUST LOVE IT WHEN GENERALISED STATEMENTS ARE MADE WHEN FACTS ARE MISSING LOL!!!
The state government, according to the letter dismissed efforts by EFCC to stop the Government from paying the sum of N3 billion to the SCC Ltd; the contractor handling the water transmission and distribution project, insisting the process of payment of the sum was far from a fraud.
The government said “the authorized N3 billion payment”, represents only 20 percent of the total cost of the water project to the contractor, as contained in 2008 Appropriation Bill passed by the State House Assembly in 2008. AGAGU AGATU, WAIT A MINUTE, WHY IS THIS WATER PROJECT A CONTRACT OF DO OR DIE?
It was reported last week that the EFCC stopped the payment of N3.8 billion to the contractor on alleged suspicion that the Ondo state government was possibly making “last minute” payments against the expectation of an unfavourable judgement from its Appeal pending before the Court of Appeal on the 2007 governorship election in Ondo state.
But the State Government in a letter to the President stressed that the EFCC was just bent on a witch-hunt against Agagu’s government. WHAT HAS EFCC AGAINST AGAGU THAT EFCC WHO HAVE WATCHED AGAGU FOR OVER 5 YEARS WILL SUDDENLY START WITCHHUNTING HIM. FACE THE FACTS. THESE BILLIONS AND BILLION NAIRA PROJECTS ARE QUESTIONABLE AND RAISES THE EYE BROW AGAKU AGATU AGAGU
“In doing so, the EFCC has a great deal of responsibility to unearth the facts before drawing conclusions. In this case, it is clear to us that the watchdog has not only been less than thorough in the handling of the matter, it has also clearly acted with bias and sentiments that assume the guilt of the accused before trial”. EFCC DELAYS NOT CANCEL THE PROJECTS AND PAYMENTS AND CONTRACTS. DOESNT THIS MAKE SENSE, WHILE THE MATTER IS BEING INVESTIGATED FOR EFCC TO MAKE SURE NOBODY CRIES WHEN THE HEAD IS ALREADY OFF. PREVENTION THEY SAY IS BETTER THAN CURE.
“The EFCC officials did visit the site of the Dam as well as the area to be covered by the water transmission line.
They also visited the ministry of public utilities which has responsibility for the project. I am aware that the officials were well briefed by their state government counterparts as well as the representatives of the contractors.
“I am also aware that relevant document pertaining to the project and the contract were made available to them. IN NAIJA EVEN THE MOST EVIL GUILTY AND CORRUPTION INFESTED DOCUMENTS ARE EASILY TENDERED. WHY DONT YOU ALL JUST WAIT A BIT AND LET EFCC CONCLUDE THE INVESTIGATIONS AND MAKE A DECISION BEFORE CRYING FOUL. WHY THE HURRY?
Curiously, however, the EFCC still went ahead to insinuate lack of due process, rushing and corruption when the facts point to the contrary”, the letter stated.
The government of Ondo however called on President Yar’Adua to ‘whip’the EFCC to line on the anti-corruption crusade in Nigeria if the claim of Rule of Law by the Government must be taken seriously. PRESIDENT YARADUA SHOULD HAVE “WHIPPED” AGAGU AND HIS EVIL CABINET OF LOOTERS AND CORRUPTION INFESTED PEOPLE LONG BEFORE NOW. SO IF AGAGU IS NOT WHIPPED, FOR NOW NOBODY ELSE SHOULD BE WHIPPED. OH GOD, IF NOT FOR THAT ROTTEN IMMUNITY, WILL THE LIKES OF AGAGU HAVE MOUTH TO TALK IN NIGERIA. AH GOD WE ARE DOING WELL IN THE MINISTRY OF PATIENCE.
The Commissioner of Information in Ondo, Eddy Olafeso also described the purported plan by the EFCC to stop the water project contract as “unwarranted, uncalled for and anti-progress”. EDDY OLAFESO, INFORMATIONMAN, THANKS FOR THE OYIBO WORDS, WE HAVE HEARD THESE SO MANY TIMES THEY NO LONGER HAVE EFFECT. ANTI PROGRESS KO, UNCLE PROGRESS NI. SO YOUR WANTON LOOTINGS IN ONDO STATE IS PRO – PROGRESS? WELL DONE BUT REMEMBER THAT GOD WILL JUDGE AND THE PEOPLE WILL BE AVENGED FOR WHAT GOES UP WILL COME DOWN AND JUSTICE WILL BE DONE.
He said the Owena Multipurpose Dam Project has been on since 1972 and has been abandoned due to the lack of appropriation for it by old Ondo State Government of Western region. NOW THIS IS INTERESTING. THE PROJECT HAS BEEN ON SINCE 1972, AGAGU DID NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SINCE IN POWER FOR OVER 5 YEARS, NOT IN 2004,2005, 2006, 2007? IF SO THEN THE PROJECT COULD WAIT WHILE EFCC INVESTIGATES DEEPER AND WHILE THE APPEAL JUDGEMENT IS GIVEN. YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST A BUNCH OF DESPERATE LOOTERS. ON WOULD THINK WHAT YOU HAVE LOOTED SO FAR WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH, BUT OH NO, YOU ARE SO TAKEN OVER BY GREED AND HATRED FOR THE PEOPLE OF ONDO STATE BECAUSE THE PEOPLE DID NOT VOTE FOR YOU THAT YOU WILL SUCK THEM DRY. GOD WILL PUNISH YOU ALL IN JESUS NAME.
Olafeso said it was the governor, Chief Olusegun Agagu who called for the assistance of the Federal Government in 2009 in the revival of the project, disclosing that the Federal government responded constructing the dam in 2007 with the sum of N4.4 billion.
The governor, added the Commissioner also pressurized the federal government to provide a treatment plant to the Dam, adding that the government also responded by committing the sum of N7.2 billion for the project which he said has a targeted date of completion for this year.
According to him, the government of Ondo considered the necessity for transfer and distribution of water from the Dam to the state capital and mainly Ondo Central Senatorial District to maximize the huge amount so far committed by the Federal Government on the Dam.
It was against this background, said the commissioner that the Government voted N14.4 billion for the water transfer and distribution project, stating that it had only released the sum of N3.8 billion before the EFCC started to make issue out of it based on prompting by those in the opposition camp in the state. IT MAKES SENSE THAT AGAGU AND CO CAN WAIT A BIT AND COMMENCE THE WORK IF TRULY IT IS A VIABLE AND HONEST CONTRACT. THIS PANIC SHOWS THAT THERE IS MORE TO THIS MATTER THAN MEETS THE EYE.
He said when completed, the water transmission and distribution project would connect not less than three local government areas, including Akure South, Akure North and Ifedore with portable water, disclosing also that the project involves construction of 93.6 kilometers transmission and distribution involving building of storage reservoirs, booster stations and service reservoirs.
THANK YOU MY PEOPLE. WE NEED TO LET THESE PEOPLE KNOW THAT ALTHOUGH THE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SILENT PERSEVERING AND LAW ABIDING BY NOT LYNCHING AGAGU AND HIS FELLOW LOOTERS THAT THE PEOPLE ARE NOT FOOLS.
PEACE
