Former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, on Thursday described the death of Chief Adebayo Adefarati (photo) as a rude shock and a blow to the camp of the progressives in the nation’s political firmament.

Mimiko, who serve in Adefarati government as Health Commissioner, was at the bedside of Pa Adefarati on Wednesday at the federal Medical Centre in Owo. In a release signed on his behalf by Mr. Kolawole olabisi, his Special Assistant on Media mimiko said:

“It is so sad that Papa Adefarati had to die at this time. We will all miss him, Nigeria has lost a rare gem and the camp of the progressives and the Afenifere has been further depleted.

Papa was a nationalist, an Awoist to the core. During the heady days of the military era, he was one of those who astood on the side of the masses and fought the military junta to a standstiil l under the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO). I will personally miss him. He was a leader whom we all cherish. It is very sad.
