mimikoface.jpgThe governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Ondo state Dr. Olusegun Mimiko at the weekend urged youths in Iju community of Akure North Local Government to desist from allowing themselves to be used by politicians in fomenting trouble in this volatile area.

Speaking at a political rally in the community, Dr Mimiko blamed the prolong crisis in the crisis-ridden area on politicians, some of whom he said are serving political office holders in the state who engaged the youths and external bodies to cause chaos.

According to him, No meaningful development could take place in any community where crisis is the order of the day, hence the need to embrace peace. The former minister, therefore assured that his administration would use all human resources at its disposal to bring back peace to the community and also replace all social facilities lost in the fracas.

While calling on the traditional chiefs and community leaders in the town to live in peace, Dr. Mimiko enjoined them not to allow personal interest of any politician to rob them of their traditional legacies.

The Labour Party flag bearer also called on the people not to be intimidated by any politician against voting according to their conscience; Dr. Mimiko assured them of adequate security during the election.

Addressing party supporters at Ayede Ogbese, Ilu-Abo, Owode and Oba-Ile, Dr. Mimiko berated the present administration in the state for its inability to provide social infrastructure for the people despite huge amount of money released to the state from the Federation Account.

The resources available in the state he said, if well utilized are enough to make lives meaningful to the people of the state, provide adequate water and electricity supply and good environment.

“It is an irony of fate for the people of Ondo State that the more money Federal Government releases money to the state, the more our abject-state of poverty” Dr. Mimiko opined.

Dr. Mimiko therefore enjoined the people of the state to vote massively for the Labour Party so as to install a government that would bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of everybody.Speaking earlier at Igbatoro, the Labour Party flag-bearer promised to assist farmers in the state by mapping out good marketing strategy that would enable their gainfully harvests from their farm.

According to him, any government that claimed to have assisted the masses without assisting farmers has done nothing.
“Before hunger can be wiped out among our people, according to Dr. Mimiko, “farmers must be encouraged through provision of farms inputs such as fertilizers, grains and chemical as subsidized rates, in large quantity and at an appropriate time.”He also promised to provide storage facilities for cocoa farmers and also promote cooperation among farmers in the state to enable them speaks in one voice on the amount they would like to sell their farm produce.
