Labour Party is Not Broke!
The gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Ondo State, Dr. Ralman Olusegun Mimiko has debunked rumours making the rounds that the party is broke and may not be able to find the needed financial muscle to prosecute the elections. In the last three weeks, the rumour mill had it that contrary to expectations, potential donors, who had earlier promised to bank roll the election of Mimiko have all developed cold-feet.
But the gubernatorial hopeful, speaking through his Director of Media for Campaign Organisation, Kolawole Olabisi, said the insinuation was baseless and untrue.
He described it as the handiwork of political opponents that are jittery and confused because of the level of acceptance of Mimiko, popularly called Iroko in Ondo political circle.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Daily Independent on Tuesday, he insisted that:
“The truth of the matter is that they are already jittery. They are confused because of the wide acceptance of the candidature of Dr. Mimiko. Our party is not broke and we are prosecuting our campaigns steadily within the limits of our resources.
“Others have the money with which they ought to develop the commonwealth of Ondo to throw around because they are in charge. Take it from me, we are not broke,” he insisted
