How PDP Rigged in Ondo
How PDP Rigged in Ondo. By Ntai Bagshaw ThisDay
The Labour Party has faulted the results of the gubernatorial and National Assembly elections in Ondo State, saying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) masterminded the rigging of the polls in the three senatorial districts of the state.
Labour Party’s senatorial aspirant for Ondo North, Prince Nekan Olateru-Olagbegi, told THISDAY that the party has sufficient evidence to prove that polls were not only conducted in a fraudulent manner but had its results doctored in favour of the ruling party. He disclosed that his party has documented “earthshaking evidence to prove our position” and is ready to proceed to the election tribunal for redress.
Olateru-Olagbegi said: “We have a ward-by-ward account of what transpired during the elections. We have evidence showing how PDP agents were thumb printing ballot papers in their homes in connivance with security agents. In my district (Ondo North), Chief Bode Olajumoke (the PDP senatorial aspirant) brought in soldiers to disrupt the process and cart away ballot boxes. Up till the eve of the elections he was out begging opinion leaders to support him because he knew had already lost. But they didn’t. I believe I won the election. And I’m protesting it vehemently.”
Describing what transpired in Ondo as ìdaylight robbery and rape on democracyî, Olateru-Olagbegi disclosed: ìThe INEC Commissioner, who was in Owo to monitor the elections, saw for himself that Owo was a ghost town. He found that most of the ballot boxes had been carted away, and people were shooting to intimidate voters. So, he cancelled the elections in the town. Can you imagine that the PDP won a senatorial district that it did not field a candidate for?î He added that the Labour Party was confident that we will regain our stolen mandate that Ondo people freely bestowed on us.
Meanwhile the results of the election, released by INEC’s Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Olabimpe Awoniyi, showed that PDP won all the seats both at the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate result showed that Olajumoke polled 137,736, votes, Ondo North senatorial District, followed by Olateru-Olagbegi with 20,147 votes, while Mr. A.O. Abodare came third with 16,969 polls. In Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Gbenga Ogunniya of the PDP won for the third consecutive time with 184,555 polls while Labour Party candidate, Mr. P. A. Akinyelure came second with 54,087 votes. However, in Ondo South Senatorial District, the PDP won with 318,153 votes without presenting any candidate for the election.
Those who won the House of Representatives include, Mr. Gbenga Elegbeleye of the PDP, who polled 59,743 votes in Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency, while J. Anota scored 23,577 votes in Akoko South East/Akoko south West Federal Constituency. Also, A. Adesida had 84,221 votes for the Akure North/ Akure South Federal Constituency.

I am just concerned, that these are the kind of leaders we still contend with at this stage of our life as a Nation? Leadership should not be by force; except there are motives other than just doing the best for the people when entrusted with leadership. It means therefore, that it ought to emanate from the people, and not taken by force. Taking it by force therefore, is treason. By ordering his followers to take the election as a do or die affair, Obasanjo not only set the motion for rigging, but also provided the resources with which the people were robbed of their mandates. Ken Nnamani only gave an honest opinion of the election, and he was accused of treason. Who is the real person that is supposed to be charged with treason?
I am of the opinion that Obasanjo has failed not only man, but God; his creator. He is beginning to sound like a broken record; with emphasis of little regrets here and there, but he has not started yet. Of all things, this election would have wiped most of his sins away, or at least, given Nigerians a good way to forget him, but he failed again. Obasanjo is afraid of his past, and very soon he will relinquish power and become an ordinary man like you and I. Now that he has successfully installed his boys, what else does he want? I can’t wait to see his back; good riddance of a bad rubbish.
For Agagu, I think he is suffering from megalomania. He has spent the last one year campaigning, and he has not stopped; not even after “winning” the election. He is used to awards and endorsements, even by force. How can they have a meeting of Ondo state council of Obas, and all of a sudden, the NURTW, Ondo state chapter; the Okada Union and others appear from nowhere? And before they knew it, pictures were taken of innocent people claiming they gathered to “endorse” Agagu? What exactly is the reason for this desperation? Agagu should be thinking of leaving; not adding insult to the evil and damages done to Ondo state people.
Despite all the robbery, criminality in public office, and using state resources to perpetrate evil, our people are still going about their daily lives, so what more does Agagu and his PDP want from Ondo state people? I said it before; that they will not rest until that mandate goes back to the true Leader of our People. It’s happening already. They are sleepless and restless. Una neva start! Iroko joo, gbasibe jare.
We are not even interested in how they rigged, but in the fact that we know that we were robbed; and we know who the robbers are. Chatting about their rigging tactics will be glorifying ‘intellectualism in crime”.
The cries of the hopeless, the oppressed, the wounded, the election-caused orphans, and widows will surely reach God. Not even in the past have Nigerians been as bitter as during this period of Obasanjo’s arranged elections. I thank God I am not alone in my mental and physical condemnation; rather, it’s a case of We vs. Them before God Almighty.
I am a Christian, and I speak as one. On this occasion however, Nigerians are not concerned about my faith. God is Allah, and Allah is God. We are united with one voice; irrespective of our divides. In the words of Sheikh Umar Aliyu Yanda, the Chief Imam of the Barnet Plaza Mosque, Abuja, on Friday, “God will punish all those who have robbed Nigerians of the opportunity to choose their leaders”.
The Chief Imam told his listeners at the mosque that the prayers of the aggrieved reach God faster than those of the oppressors. “Therefore, God will answer the prayers of the millions of Nigerians who have been cheated in the polls,” he said, adding that “there is no way they (who stole the people’s mandate) can enjoy the fruits of this fraud in peace.”
With all these prayers and curses, tell me how they can escape the wrath of God and man. They are finished!
I wake up to another day that the Lord has made thanking God for the lives of all the upright and well meaning Nigerians who have began to say no to injustice, corruption and insult as characterised by the governance of Agagu in Ondo State and Presidency of Obasanjo in Nigeria. Nigerians are very forbearing, sometimes laid back and quite innovating – be it for the wrong or right reasons. The story of MIMIKO in Ondo state, the story of a WINNER AND CHAMPION OF THE PEOPLE, who has been cheated, victimised and robbed has led to a great outcry and also to the dawn of a new beginning for Ondo State and Nigeria. People are actively protesting and challenging the ills and wrongs wrought on the poor people of Nigeria and this is only the beginning. I say over and over again. THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES until justice is done and wrongs are corrected. PDP RIGGED THE ELECTIONS IN ONDO STATE AND WE SHALL CONTINUE TO SHOUT THIS ON THE ROOFTOP FOR ALL TO HEAR. This will go down in history for future generations to read about.Nevertheless this sound will be nothing compared to THE SHOUT OF VICTORY FOR MIMIKO IN THE LAW COURTS IN THIS GLORIOUS MONTH OF MAY WHEN THE TRUTH WILL BE REVEALED AND THE THIEFS EXPOSED. Agagu will be sent packing before the end of May 2007 IN JESUS NAME. He and his areafather OBJ will catch the same plane to Nemesis land in Jesus name. It will be good riddance to all bad rubbish in Jesus name. And all the people shall say Amin be ni ko ri. IROKO YI JO GBA SIBE. I repeat, ALAGBAKA AWAITS YOU IN JESUS NAME. Trust on in the God of your salvation.
