Biography

MIMIKO 2007-05 028 Dr. Olusegun Mimiko was born on 3rd October, 1954, to Pa and Mrs. Atiku Bamidele Mimiko of Ondo, Ondo State. His great, great grandfather was the High Chief Adaja Gbegbaje of Ondo. His great grandfather, Chief Akinmeji, was the distinguished Ruwase of Ondo. His grandfather, Pa Famimikomi, was an accomplished man. His gallantry in those long years attracted great respect, some of which rubbed-off on his own son, the late Pa A. B. Mimiko, himself an accomplished manager of men and materials, a cocoa plantation farmer, an avid reader and monitor of global developments, an erudite social commentator and a compassionate leader of men. Dr. Mimiko’s mother is of the eminent Ogunsulie family of Ondo Kingdom.

Dr. Mimiko entered St. Joseph’s College, Ondo, in 1966, and left with the West African School Certificate in 1970. Between 1971 and 1972, he was a Higher School Certificate (HSC) student at the popular Gboluji Grammar School, Ile-Oluji. Dr. Mimiko entered the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife in 1972. In 1976, he bagged a B.Sc. Health Sciences Degree; and the MB; CH.B in 1980. He is appropriately registered with the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council as a Medical Practitioner.

As a medical doctor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has worked in different establishments over the past 26 years. Between 1980 and 1981, he was a House Officer with the Ondo State Health Management Board under which auspices he worked at the General (now State Specialist) Hospital, Ado-Ekiti. He had a stint with the Nigerian Naval College (NNS Onura), Onne, Port Harcourt, between 1981 and 1982, from where he returned to join the services of the Ondo State Health Management Board as Medical Officer in the General (now State Specialist) Hospital, Ondo, in 1982.

From late 1983 to 1984, Dr. Mimiko had his initial taste of private medical practice by working at different times as a Medical Officer at Apagun Clinic, Yaba, Lagos; and as Acting Medical Director, Alleluyah Hospital, Oshodi, Lagos. He returned to public service for another year between April 1984 and February 1985 (again with the Ondo State Health Management Board) before finally going into full private medical practice with the setting up of the MONA MEDICLINIC with headquarters at Ondo.

Beyond his professional and business callings, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has an abiding interest in politics. He predicates his political engagement on the conviction that responsible leadership through a social democratic process provides the basis for the resolution of Nigeria’s crises, and the emancipation of the African.

Dr. Mimiko’s many years of involvement in politics dates back to his university days at Ile-Ife where he was at various times a member of the Students’ Representative Council (Parliament), 1975/76, and Chairman of its Special Honours Committee. For a period in 1976, he was elected Chairman (Speaker) of the Students Representative Council. Outside the students’ legislative house, Dr. Mimiko served on the University of Ife Students’ Union Electoral Commission, 1976/77; and was the Public Relations Officer of the International Students’ Association of the University between 1977 and 1978.

As a full-fledged politician, Dr. Mimiko served as the Publicity Secretary of the Ondo Local Government chapter of the Chief Obafemi Awolowo-led Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) in 1983. During the Third Republic, he was elected twice as ex-officio member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Executive Council in Ondo Local Government Area. He also served as a member of the Party’s Disciplinary Committee.

In recognition of his extensive involvement in grassroots mobilisation during the Third Republic, Dr. Mimiko was appointed Commissioner for Health and Social Services in January 1992. By the time he was leaving office in late 1993 as a result of the military coup d’etat that terminated that Republic, Dr. Mimiko had left his mark as a performer. In that short period, he facilitated the setting up of the Pharmacy Shop System under which 24-hour pharmacy services were being provided in the main hospitals around the State. He also conceived and brought into reality the idea of what came to be known as Accident and Emergency Centres in some of the State Hospitals in the then Ondo State (now Ondo and Ekiti States). These were centres furnished with state of the art equipment to attend to accident and other emergency cases confronting government hospitals everywhere in the country.

Again, in recognition of his extensive contribution to the victory of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the 1999 governorship election in Ondo State, Dr. Mimiko was appointed the Honourable Commissioner for Health in the State, making the second time he would hold the office. Before he resigned his position in the State Executive Council on November 7, 2002, Dr. Mimiko had greatly enhanced the quality of health care delivery in the State. He brought real innovation into the health sector. His Ministry completed and equipped the Millennium Eye Centre, Akure, which still ranks among the best in Nigeria, within the first 100 days of the civilian administration. The Festivals of Surgery, under which auspices hundreds of free surgical operations were carried out to restore the sight of blind and partially blind patients and to relief those with hernia, were widely received across the State, and copied in many others. Needless to state that these brought succour and joy to the hearts of thousands of indigenes of Ondo State. Also though the instrumentally of the Health Rangers Scheme, Dr. Mimiko facilitated the delivery of health services to the innermost parts of Ondo State, providing thousands of rural dwellers with their real first contact with government.

The undeniable truth, attested to by citizens of Ondo State, is that the State Ministry of Health under Dr. Mimiko definitely added value to the Alliance for Democracy (AD) government in the State. In his characteristic modesty, Dr. Mimiko is always quick to give the glory to the Almighty God.

On November 7, 2002, Dr. Mimiko resigned his appointment as State Commissioner for Health, “for strictly personal reasons”. In the conviction that he would be in a better position to facilitate more quality governance in Ondo State, and in response to calls across the State that he should join the gubernatorial race, Dr. Mimiko formally announced his intention to contest the governorship election on the platform of the AD on Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at a crowded Press Conference in Akure, the Ondo State capital. He gave vent to his conviction that for Ondo State, there certainly were BRIGHTER DAYS AHEAD!

Dr Mimiko had to leave the AD when it became obvious that the basis for democratic engagement was no longer in the Party. He the adopted the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) as a preferred platform for the continuing struggle for enthroning good governance in Ondo State. After the victory of the Party in the April 2003 pools, Dr Mimiko was appointed the Secretary to the State Government, a position he occupied till July 2005, when he was appointed by President Olusegun Obasanjo as a Minister of the Federal Republic in charge of the Housing and Urban Development Ministry. It was from this office that Dr. Mimiko resigned December 8, 2006, to enable him offer himself once again for higher service to Ondo State as Governorship candidate in the April 2007 election under the auspices of the Labour Party.

Before he left office as Minister, Dr. Mimiko coordinated the Obasanjo Administration’s Reform Programme in the Housing and Urban Development sector to accomplish the following:

  • Major shift in policy from direct construction of houses to increased involvement of the private sector
  • Redevelopment of government landed properties through private sector real estate developers to increase housing stock
  • Focus on the mortgage sector in the on-going re-organization of Nigeria’s financial system
  • Gradual withdrawal of government from direct provision of residential housing to public servants through monetization policy
  • Re-organization and re-capitalizing the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria for more robust operation
  • Enhanced National Housing Fund (NHF) operations
  • Re-positioning of Federal Housing Authority (FHA)
  • Creation of enabling environment for sustainable mass production of houses through:

-National Housing Data Bank
-Production of National Housing Codes and Standards
-Framework for housing delivery and urban management through co-operatives
-Social Housing Programme.

In relation to housing specifically, he led the Housing and Urban Development team to accomplish the following, among many others:

  • Revised national housing policy
  • National housing data bank and census
  • National building codes and standard
  • National site and service programme
  • Public-private partnership initiatives
  • Re-organization of FMBN
  • Enhanced operations of NHF
  • Repositioning of FHA
  • Framework for housing cooperatives
  • Social housing programme
  • Establishment of REDAN
  • Formation of BUMPAN
  • Research into local materials
  • Legislative amendment to housing related laws
  • Niger Delta Housing Initiative

In the Urban Development sector which his mandate as Minister also covered, Dr Mimiko worked with his team to put in place the following:

  • National Urban Development Policy
  • Urban renewal and slum up-grading
  • Improved urban infrastructure and services
  • Freign partnership for sustainable cities
  • Lagos Mega city Re-development Project
  • Re-structuring of Urban Development Bank
  • Preparation of physical and regional development plans and cadastral/township maps.

Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has authored many research papers and published articles focussing on issues as wide-ringing as Medicine, International Relations and national socio-political developmental strategies. A December 1981 edition of the New Nigerian carried his “Troops Withdrawal: Reagan’s Destabilisation Ploy”. He wrote on “Wind of Change in Eastern Europe: Lessons for Africa and the Third World”, in the Daily Sketch of April 10, 1990, where he predicted the subsequent break-up of the then USSR.

At his leisure, Dr. Mimiko engages in writing and reading. Way back in 1971, the young Olusegun had won the John F. Kennedy Essay (School Level) award, underscoring his creative capabilities.

Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, (appointed a Justice of Peace in 1993), is a lover of exquisite art works. He has won several awards in recognition of his excellent performance. Significantly, less than six months after he left office as Health Commissioner in 1993, the Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), his professional colleagues, conferred on Dr. Mimiko an Award of Meritorious Service. Some of the other awards he received at different times in the last five years include:

  1. Gboluji (Anglican) Grammar School Excellent Career and Outstanding Contribution to National Development Award (Sept. 2002)
  2. National Council of Yoruba Students Distinguished Odu’A Students Great Ambassador Award (Oct, 2001).
  3. Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (Ondo State Chapter) Distinguished Diamond Award, (1999/2000).
  4. Nigerian Union of Journalists (Ondo State Chapter) NUJ Chairman’s Award, (Dec. 2001)

Dr. Mimiko is a patron of many organisations, amongst which are the Obafemi Awolowo University Medical Students Association, and the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo Students’ Union.

A widely-travelled man, Dr. Mimiko speaks Yoruba, English, and some smattering of French through the efforts of his wife Olukemi, a French Language graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University. Together, God has blessed their marriage with four children.

The general impression across Ondo State is that if his antecedents are anything to go by, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko is sure to deliver a quality of governance that is unprecedented when he gets elected as the next Governor of the State.

Uncle Mimiko, there is this popular saying that ‘it is easier said than done’ I hope you will keep to your promises ( none posted here) if you are successful. I also want to believe that your unprecedented maradonic crossings are not for personal gains. Ondo State actually deserves that governor that will be charismatic in approach, commercially oriented in thinking and God – fearing in sourcing for & allocating resources among the diverse beneficiaries. It is high time we revived all the moribond & ailing industries and made the place attractive to investors to float new ones in Ondo State. You have got a lot to do, mind you, if you succeed!

I wish you best of luck.

You can find the agenda listing Dr Mimiko’s plan here: manifesto/

I had a brief opportunity of meeting with you during my housemanship days at the State Specialist Hospital, Ondo between, 1988 and 1989. A colleague of mine was working part-time in your clinic. You were such a practical, down to earth person, with genuine intention to help those who were less priviledged. This attribute must have fetched you the followership you have recorded throughout Ondo-state. I wish you the very best in your efforts to bring development and progress to Ondo- State.

What it is about Iroko that gets people jittery?!

I’ve followed your political career closely, right from your AD days, through PDP and now LP, especially with the privilege of having your wife as my class teacher in Unity, akure.

Even though some people including myself initially had concerns about such movements which seems to indicate a ‘do or die’ ambition, i have come to realise that anti-democratic forces were at play and made such movements necessary. Your profile was daunting to people in AD, caused anxiety in and out of PDP and grows more intimidating as the days go by.

Your purpose would see you through. However, i don’t envy you the days ahead when you eventually occupy the Alagbaka govt. house… because then, your work will just begin!!!!!

    All the very best.

I wish to express my unalloyed support for His Excellency, Dr R. O. Mimiko. I have known him to be a man of integrity since my secondary school days at St. Joseph’s College, Ondo. He made it a point of duty to come at least once a year to see the Students of his almamater, no wonder everyone likes him.
I know without any realm of doubt that IROKO will bring the people of Ondo State from obscurity to glare.
Everything mentioned in his biography is correct.
I wish him all the best and congratulate the good people of Ondo State.

I want to believe Ondo State will once again be experiencing true leadership since the days of Pa Micheal Adekunle Ajasin the moment Dr. Olusegun Mimiko assumes office as the Executive Governor of Ondo State.
Like Nigeria, Ondo State is greatly endowed, and this should have translated to a better standard of living & generally, a better way of life in the Sunshine state if not for the fact that there has been a great disconnect due to poor & miserable leadership we have all along been offered by those who have been given the opportunity of steering the ship of governance in the state – leadership that has been anchored on greed, favouritism, ignorance and lack of purpose & passion.
In the course of time, I will be chipping in my ideas on how our dear state can be lifted from the present abyss to the great height we belong. We are the future of the state and I believe Olusegun Mimiko will not hesitate to have useful collaboration with us.
Ondo State is sure for you!!!

  19. Ade Ekeiboon 31 Mar 2007 at 1:48 pm

Hope you win. Maybe we will have a better government that can spend billions in a just manner.
Also I wish you will not confuse us with “big grammar” just to steal our money.
It will be a big hope to the younger generation of this state.
Make sure they don’t kill you so that you can get there.
    GOODLUCK

Agagu may not be able to publish his Biography on this Website, and I may never know his real biography as he continues to live a life of lies. Who will want to believe what he says about himself! One thing i am sure is that on his tombstone would be written:
HERE LIES A MAN OF ZERO INTEGRITY, A CHEAT, THIEF AND LIAR
THE MAN WHO JOINED WITH OBASANJO TO BRING ONDO STATE POLITICS INTO DISREPUTE, ON WHOSE HANDS ARE SMEARED THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT.
HERE LIES A PRETENDER, WHO DID ONDO STATE WRONG A BANDIT WHO LOOTED THE COFFERS OF THE STATE. HE CARED NOT FOR THE PEOPLE AND ENRICHED ONLY HIMSELF AND HIS FAMILY.
HERE LIES A MAN WHO TRIED TO ROB MIMIKO OF HIS GLORY BUT WHO GOD SMOTE WITH A PLAGUE AND BROUGHT HIM TO HIS GRAVE IN SHAME. ALL HE RELIED ON WERE POWERLESS POWER.
HERE LIES A MAN WHO MIMIKO DEFEATED TWICE- 1ST IN ONDO STATE ELECTION 07 AND THEN IN JUDICIAL VICTORY O7.
HERE LIES A MAN WHOSE GRAVE POSTERITY WOULD AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE THAT DESTROYED HIS LIFE (AMEN).

Calling on all honest truth loving and Godly people of Nigeria, particularly members of the Nigerian Judiciary and Ondo State. As you wake up and worship God on Sunday 6th May 2007 please remember Dr Olusegun Mimiko THE TRULY ELECTED GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE NIGERIA, and the people of Ondo State in your prayers. My call is not only for Justice for MIMIKO but also for protection, blessing and liberation of the people of my dear Sunshine State where the sun that have shone so far in the governance of Agagu has been a hot, consuming and deadly one. If Mimiko is not the people’s choice, if Mimiko is not Ondo State Hope for a promising and blessed future, if the story of Mimiko is not the story of Joseph and the saving grace God made him to Egypt, if Mimiko’s vision is not only one of clarity but also of hope and if MIMIKO is not the BORN LEADER TURNED INTO A VICTIM OF ABUSE OF POWER, then I would rest my case. But I will not stop no matter what it takes and how long. Justice must be done, truth must prevail, that new and good thing which God has promised us in Ondo state must come to pass. The devil will not take our joy from us.
YOUR EXCELLENCY DR OLUSEGUN MIMIKO, THE RIGHTFUL GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE, wake up daily in the joy of the Lord, be courageous, be refreshed and be strenghtened. God never forsakes His own. You will win your mandate. The powers that be in Nigeria are not greater than God. Ondo state needs a man of integrity and purpose like you. I shudder to think what would happen to Ondo state under Agagu for another 4 years -ah God forbid! Joseph went through a baptism of fire before he became second in command as chosen by God, Job suffered unmentionable torment from the Devil but his latter days were better tha the former and his glory was doubly restored. Elijah suffered untold hardship especially from Ahab and Jezebel but the LORD THAT ANSWERED BY FIRE IS INDEED OUR GOD. Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den but he was the victorious. Joshua was young and fragile but God empowered him to complete successfully the race started by Moses. David and Israel were terrorised by Goliath bot one Holy stone from the Lord brought Goliath down like Dagon the dumb god. David had so many enemies even members of his household turned against him but God was with him and he was crowned king being God’s elect. OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST SUFFERED AND WAS CRUCIFIED BUT HE RESSURECTED AND LIVES FOREVER. Halleluja. IROKO YOU WILL WIN THE BATTLE. My people, dont waver in your support for the man of God and good- OLUSEGUN MIMIKO. Continue to say no to imposition of Agagu the all time loser. I PRAY THE LORD MINISTERS UNTO ALL THE PEOPLE CONCERNED IN THIS MATTER SO THAT JUSTICE IS DONE AND THE TRUTH PREVAILS (Amen). Happy Sunday.

Your labour of love will not be in vain. Your tears will be tears of Joy soon and your song will be a victory song. Remain firm in God and trust Him to the end. Weeping may tarry for the night but joy cometh in the morning. MIMIKO ma mi kan, God has given you victory. Its only a matter of time. IROKO YI JO GBASIBE, GBASIBE, GBASIBE. MIMIKO JAREEEE.

with bated breath we all await the verdict of this tribunal knowing that it is a 50%-50% chance that tribunals in Nigeria reaches truly judicious and justiceable decisions; but with God all things are possible, i know He will do something marvellous and the tribunal will follow the path of righteousness and justice and declare what you and i had always known… that MIMIKO is the Governor elect of Ondo State.!

  30. Omotayloron 28 Sep 2007 at 9:56 am

TRUE SAY. IN GOD WE TRUST. As these evildoers continue to shoot themselves in the foot, one day, their dark secret will be exposed in such a way that they will not be able to talk themselves out of it. The People are not fooled by all that has been exposed so far and I pray that the Electoral Tribunal will tell the truth and declare Mimiko the winner as in some other states LG petition. Eddy Olafeso could sound good on paper but the reality of the situation and the quick to deny and point finger style of his will not save his master’s skin. Agagu is a crook and his governance in Ondo state is Shambolic and he can not fool the people of Ondo State just because he is trying to win them over to excape the hangman. He will not escape in Jesus name.

i wish someone could tell these people that this site is for serious business, governorship of ondo state and not some loony talk. meanwhile the news has come from kogi and lately kebbi state, the noose is getting tighter… agagu should get ready to be gagged. ondo state is next, we deserve a good, humane, benevolent, spiritual and public spirited leadership that mimiko represents.

  34. Omotayloron 20 Oct 2007 at 7:13 pm

I personally believe that it is good to let everyone voice their opinion, for how else can you decipher whose reasoning is God filled and wise, and whose is foolish and senseless. No offence meant here but you see, there is no one in this world that would be liked by all. Let us take my Lord Jesus for example, he was the most righteous, most helpful and most annointed of all times but what did the human race do? They called him names, even preferred Barrabas the thief to Him and crucified Him. This was according to the will of God.

Now in Ondo State, the will of God is that Mimiko will be Governor but will go through some trying period and work extra hard before he is sworn in as Governor. While this is happening all enemies who call themselves his friend and who would rather become a clog in his wheel of progress will have evaporated so that he (MIMIKO) can get to the real business of restoration in Ondo State. The time is now at hand and when God says yes, no one can say no.

For these two faceless people who maybe as they are spineless would rather use psuedo names like Anonymous and Jaguda, well I have mixed feelings about your stance. First I can see that you are both frustrated especially at all Nigerian politicians for candidly and especially with the disgraceful and unbelievable shows being put up by MPs at the Ettehgate scandal. I dont blame you for venting some anger on Mimiko the innocent one here. He is gallant enough to take it. Dont despair, have faith that not all people are evil and that Mimiko will prove his worth in Ondo State.

If both of you faceless nameless people are of Agagu and hope to throw in lies and deciet on this website, you will fail miserably and the Lord God Jehovah will rain fire, brimestone and a horrible tempest on your heads. Please dont allow evil to dwell in your homes. Learn from the sad death of the MP Dr who took sides with the evil woman called Etteh and who died suddenly in the proces. The Lord is a consuming fire and please heed the warning and desist from evil.

If you have a personal vendetta, dont use this website, hold your reins for the time being and guess what, and mark my words, you shall all love MIMIKO in the end.

Now Agagu the thief will soon be removed from our midst and progress, peace and plenty shall be permanent in Ondo State in Jesus name.

E MA MI KAN, BI IRO BA LO LOGUN ODUN, OTITO OJO KAN A LE BA. Mimiko jo gba gba gbasibeeeeee. You are a winner, Iroko nla, no shaking, ota e lo ni ibanuje. Ayo no ti omo Olorun. Oh lalala, esu ti te, o ti pofo. Won si ma ke bi ewure laipe yi.

As a matter of interest and since i like to be educated, Mr Anonymous, which part of the biography are lies? Dont just throw tantrums and make claims that you cannot substantiate, for I have researched the biography and I can tell you, Agagu can tell you and even babaOttaFarm, OBJ can tell you that not a single sentence in the Biography is a lie! It is not even 23/24th October yet and you are already panicking and attempting some blacklisting on Mimiko’s website. THIS IS PATHETIC.

    I belief we should ignore people like, whatever his/her name is, who `throw out` un-informed charges ,you give people like this relevance by answering them, Mimiko Mandate will soon come. PLEASE READ ANOTHER STATE`S VERDICT EVEN THOUGH THE VERDICT WE EXPECT IN ONDO STATE IS TRANSFER OF POWER AND NOT ANOTHER ELECTION;

    Tribunal Nullifies Kebbi Gov’s Election
•We’ll appeal the judgment, says Dakingari •ANPP hails judiciary
From Chuks Okocha in Abuja and Saka Ibrahim in Birnin Kebbi, 10.21.2007

Kebbi State Governor, Usman Dakingari yesterday became the second governor elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to have his election nullified by the Election Petition Tribunal since the April 14, 2007 election.
It’s Kogi State counterpart, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has suffered the same fate on October 10 when the tribunal granted the prayers of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) candidate, former governor Abubakar Audu that a fresh election should be ordered.
The Kebbi State Election Petition Tribunal headed by Justice Aodover Kaka’an also ordered that a fresh election should be conducted by the Independent National Elec-toral Commission (INEC) because the governor was not properly nominated as PDP candidate for the April 14 polls.
The governor’s election had been challenged by the candidates of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Senator Farouk Bunza Bello and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) in the election, Alhaji Abubakar Mallam.
According to the tribunal, Dakingari’s nomination by the PDP as its gubernatorial candidate on February 5, 2007 as a substitute for Maj. Gen. Mohammed Magoro (rtd); whereas his membership candidate reads February 10, 2007 was a violation of the electoral law.
Dakingari had decamped from the ANPP alongside the former governor, Alhaji Adamu Aliero and was nominated by the PDP to replace Alhaji Bello Gwandu, the PDP candidate who was disqualified by the party. A letter by then PDP national secretary, Chief Ojo Maduekwe to INEC on April 10, had conveyed the decision of the party on the issue.
Said Justice Kaka’an, “We return to the issue as to whether the infraction of section 34(2) substantially affected the result of the election. Having held that no cogent and verifiable reason was given for the substitution of the first Respondent for the initial candidate of PDP, it means the 1st Respondent was illegally placed on the ballot paper. The question however is, was this a notorious fact known to the electorate of Kebbi State? In other words, was the electorate aware of the inherent legal defect on the first respondent but nonetheless cast a majority of votes for him? No evidence has been placed before us to provide an answer to these questions. We hold therefore that the infraction has not substantially affected the outcome of the Election”.
The Judge explained that the agreement of the counsel to waive cross examination however robbed the tribunal an opportunity to assess the credibility of witnesses’ particularly Professor Mohammed Bello and Dr. Shehu Usman Gulumbe who authored exhibits R4 and R10 and admitted human error and simple errors of arithmetic.
“Notwithstanding the admission by INEC of certain irregularities, we have lost the benefit of these professionals or expert witnesses who should give answer under cross-examination to explain the magnitude of the irregularities occasioned by INEC staff in order to decide whether they substantially affected the result of the election. As things stand, we agree with the Respondent that Exhibits 19(A), (B) and (C) as well as Exhibits R4, R10 and R11 were dumped on us. We find the irregularities not proved therefore.”
The judge said every political party must comply with Section 34(1) and (2) of the Electoral Act which provides that any political party intending to change any of its candidate for any election shall inform INEC of such change in writing not later than 60 days to the election. Besides, he said the party must give cogent and verifiable reasons for substituting such candidate.
Said Justice Kakan “it must be stated from the onset that this provision does not derogate from the political parties their right to nominate a candidate of their choice. What the law says is that the reason for making a substitution must be cogent and verifiable. In the case of Ugwu-vs-Ararume (supra) the Court held in that case that this provision is mandatory and peremptory and not directory or permissive. The Court also held that “cogent and verifiable reason can only mean a reason self demonstrating of its’ truth and which can be checked and found to be true.”
The grounds of the two petitioners are: That Dakingari was at the time of the election, not qualified to contest the election; that the election was invalid by reason of corrupt practices and non-compliance with the provisions of the electoral act and that the governor was not duly elected by a majority of lawful votes cast at the election.
But in his reaction to the tribunal’s verdict, Dakingari yesterday said he remains the governor and appealed to people of the state to remain calm.
Section 149 subsection (1) of the Electoral Act 2006 states that “if the Election Tribunal or the court, as the case maybe, determines that a candidate was not validly elected, then if notice of appeal against that decision is given within 21 days from the date of the decision, the candidate returned as elected shall, notwitstanding the contrary decision of the Election Tribunal or the court, remain in office pending the determination of the appeal”.
Sub-section 2 states: “If the Election Tribunal or the court, as the case maybe, determines that a candidate as elected was not validly elected, the candidate returned as elected shall notwithstanding the contrary decision of the Election Tribunal or the court remains in office pending the expiration of the period of 21 days within which an appeal may be brought”.
He said his party, the PDP will appeal the judgment at the Election Petition Appeal Tribunal.
According to him, the electorate elected him on April 14 based on his popularity and that was why he scored the highest number of votes as affirmed by the tribunal.
The governor said “As we are all aware, this morning, the election petition tribunal has given its decision in which it affirmed that I was the person who was elected by the majority of lawful votes. That indeed the election was free and fair. The tribunal has, however, nullified my election on the ground that I did not state the date I joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). But the Tribunal accepted that I left the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) on the 2nd of February 2007.
“I know for a fact that you did not vote for me on account of the date I joined the PDP or as an independent candidate. But you voted for me because you truly believed in me and my party and I possessed the qualities of the leader you want,” he said.
The governor said the judgment was faulty and was an attempt to distract the people of the state.
He said two of the five members of the tribunal disagreed with the verdict and refused to sign the ruling.
“We consider this judgment an attempt to distract us, as the judgment is not a unanimous decision of the members of the Tribunal. The judges themselves were divided. Two of the panel members did not only disagree with their colleagues but refused to sign the judgment. But I can assure you that we shall not be distracted”.
Dakingari assured the people of the state that his administration will continue to work for the people and make the state a model state.
He said as a democrat and believer in the rule of law, he will continue to pursue legal means adding that the judgment did not appear to have captured the popular opinion of the people of the state as fully expressed in April 2007.
“I wish to invite all and sundry to remain calm, continue to be law abiding, allow law and order to continue to provide the framework for all that we do,” the governor said.
However, the National Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party
(ANPP), Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke has commended the election tribunal in Kebbi State for its decision on the petition of the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state.
In a statement signed by the National Chairman of ANPP, he stated, “This news is gladdening and it shows that judiciary is out to save democracy from total collapse in Nigeria.”
He also stated that by the nullification of the election of Governor Dakingari, the judiciary has gone a long way in redeeming its image as “the last hope of the common man”.
According to Ume-Ezeoke, “More of this fraudulent elections would not stand the test of time as these fraudulent elections would be cancelled. Judiciary is the hero Nigeria’s democracy and our plea is that the judiciary should keep the good job on, so
that all the fraudulent elections would be judiciously addressed,” the ANPP Chairman stated
In his reaction, Mr. Andy Ezeani, Media Assistant to the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said: “the tribunal ruling in Kebbi State shows that the fault, if any, is that of the political party in not ensuring that their candidate is a bonafide member of the party. The actual conduct of the election was not faulted. This is a fact, not a statement
you give these sort of people relevance by answering then. Mimiko Mandate will soon come

    This part is the lie.

”Dr. He is appropriately registered with the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council as a Medical Practitioner”

let him post his certifoicate here to disprove this.

    Enough said.

For our information, I have nothing to do with Agagu, in fact I’d rather see him ousted.

MR ANONYMOUS OR UNKNOWN OR NON-ENTITY DO HAVE A POINT BY CHALLENGING MIMIKO TO POST HIS CERTIFICATE HERE TO REFUTE HIS CLAIM OR ACCUSATION. I AM STRONGLY IN SUPPORT OF THIS GUY BECAUSE HE HAS A POINT. EVEN IF YOU ARE IN SUPPORT OF MIMIKO THAT SHOULD NOT STOP YOU OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL FROM INQUIRING INTO THE VALIDITY OF HIS CLAIM, IF ONLY TO PROVE TO ALL AND SUNDRY THAT HE IS NOT A LIAR.

There two pple using the name anonymos im the good one

  44. Omotayloron 24 Oct 2007 at 5:20 pm

Of course you’re right Mr Lesco. No one said questions cannot be asked for even the bible advises us to search for all things verily. Now to the response from Mr Anonymous, he or she will have to do better for the answer is still non specific. I for one know a lot of the claims are right and although I cannot answer all the questions specifically (and by the way, I didnt write the biography), but I believe it is only fair also to pose direct and specific questions so that the writer could give a response. To help out, which part of the whole paragraph rings untrue?:

”Dr. Mimiko entered St. Joseph’s College, Ondo, in 1966, and left with the West African School Certificate in 1970. ????????????

Between 1971 and 1972, he was a Higher School Certificate (HSC) student at the popular Gboluji Grammar School, Ile-Oluji.??????????

Dr. Mimiko entered the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife in 1972. ??????????

In 1976, he bagged a B.Sc. Health Sciences Degree; and the MB; CH.B in 1980???????????????.

He is appropriately registered with the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council as a Medical Practitioner”???????????????

Let him post his certificate here to disprove this????????.

I know some fellow readers may frown at my attempt to reason with Mr Anonymous but come on now , the book of Issaih 1 informs that even the Lord gave an invitation that we should “come and let us reason together”.

But as for Mimiko posting his certificate (whichever this may be) on the Web, haba, it is a tall order. People who really want to disprove any claim will contact the host institution etc and make enquiries. If any false claim is made, then come out with it, giving names of contacts who refute the claim(s).

IN THE MEANTIME, OUR GOD IS GOOD AND WILL VINDICATE DR MIMIKO FULL TIME. WE SHALL HAVE THE VERDICT OF TRUTH VERY SOON. God bless us all.

  45. LESCOon 24 Oct 2007 at 6:40 pm

MY DEAR COMPATRIOT, OMOTAYLOR, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE EASIEST WAY IS ALWAYS THE BEST WAY. IT WILL BE EASIER FOR MIMIKO TO DISPLAY HIS CERTIFICATES IN ORDER TO VINDICATE HIMSELF THAN FOR ANYONE TO GO AROUND CONTACTING ALL THE INSTITUTIONS LISTED IN HIS BIOGRAPHY OR AUTOBIOGRAPHY IF IT WAS WRITTEN BY HIM. WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT THE ONUS OF PROOF LIES 100% WITH MIMIKO. EVEN IF THE VERDICT WAS FAVORABLE, A LOT OF HIS FOLLOWERS MIGHT STILL HAVE SOME DOUBTS. THE ISSUE HERE IS NOT THE VERDICT, HIS INTEGRITY IS WHAT IS AT STAKE. A GOOD LEADER WILL GO TO ANY LENGHT IN ORDER TO JUSTIFY THE VALIDITY OF HIS CLAIM OR PROOF HIS INNOCENCE ON ANY ISSUE THAT QUESTIONS HIS INTEGRITY. ALL SAID, MY DESIRE IN THIS MATTER IS NOT TO TRADE ACCUSATIONS, COUNTER ACCUSATIONS AND DENIALS.

  46. Anonymouson 25 Oct 2007 at 7:34 am

    It’s me again.

Let Mimiko post his certificates to justify his claims. He may be a medical Doctor but let him justify those dates.

I believe our Ondo State deserves better leaders than the likes of Agagu or Mimiko. Agagu, as unpopular as he is, is very irresponsible. Mimiko on the other hand is very unstable jumping from one tent to the other – from AD to PDP and now to Labour.

We need stable and responsible leaders in our state.

I just want what’s best for our state and I’m not a player hater. These people dont deserve our votes, I’m sorry but the truth is always bitter.

  47. Omotayloron 25 Oct 2007 at 8:59 am

OKAY NOW I GET THE GIST, I.E. THE UNDERLYING GIST OF WHAT MR ANONYNOUS HAS WRITTEN ABOVE. I HOPE THE PEOPLE WHO CAN GIVE YOU THE ANSWERS ARE READING AND I BEG TO REST MY INVOLVEMENT FOR THERE IS MORE TO THIS THAN MEETS THE EYE.

I KNOW THIS FACT, MIMIKO IS A MAN OF INTEGRITY AND NO MUDSLINGS WILL CHANGE THIS. REMEMBER OBJ TRIED TO EVEN CALL OUR DEAR LEADER AND GOVERNOR MIMIKO A THIEF AND EFCC HAD TO SHUT THE BABA UP. TIME WILL REVEAL ALL THINGS.

BY THE WAY WHO DESERVES YOUR VOTE IN ONDO STATE MR LESCO?

  48. LESCOon 25 Oct 2007 at 9:52 am

OMOTAYO, THE ISSUE THAT I RAISED DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH VOTES OR VOTING. I THINK YOU ARE GETTING MR ANONYMOUS MIXED UP WITH ME. YOU DO NOT WANT ME TO RESPOND TO YOUR QUESTION BECAUSE MY RESPONSE WILL RAISE A LOT OF DUSTS. MY CONCERN IF YOU MAY KNOW IS NOT WHO OCCUPIES THE POSITION OF GOVERNOR OR PRESIDENT. ALL I WANT FOR MY COUNTRY AND MY STATE IN PARTICULAR IS GOOD GOVERNANCE AND PROGRESS. IN ADDITION, I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT PARTISAN AND I DO NOT RESIDE IN NIGERIA. THEREFORE, I DID NOT VOTE DURING THE ELECTIONS IF THAT WILL SATISFY YOUR CURIOUSITY. THE PURPOSE OF WRITING AND READING IS DEFEATED IF WE CANNOT ENGAGE IN HONEST INTELLECTUAL EXERCISE OR EXCHANGE WITHOUT THE SUSPICION THAT ONE PERSON IS OUT TO GET THE OTHER.

  49. Omotayloron 25 Oct 2007 at 11:01 am

IT IS FAIR TO ASK FOR A NAME THAT DESERVES THE GOVERNORSHIP VOTE IN ONDO STATE. MIMIKO IS A MAN OF INTEGRITY. OBJ CALLED HIM A THIEF, EFCC PUT THE RECORDS STRAIGHT. ONDO STATE VOTED WITH OVERWHELMING MAJORITY FOR HIM AND ONDO STATE IS FOLLOWING THE ELECTION PETITION WITH KEEN INTEREST. THIS BIOGRAPHY WAS RELEASED IN FEBRUARY 07 WELL AHEAD OF THE APRIL POLLS AND SUDDENLY IN OCTOBER 07 MR ANONYMOUS HAS A PROBLEM WITH IT! COME ON , WHY WONT ANYONE BE SUSPICIOUS OF HIDDEN AGENDA MORE SO WHEN IT IS CLEAR THAT THE ELECTION PETITION WILL VINDICATE MIMIKO. SO I REST MY CASE FOR I CANT SEE THIS AS AN INTELLECTUAL DISCOURSE. ALL THE SAME, IF THERE IS ANY REFUTABLE CLAIM PLEASE STATE IT CATEGORICALLY, AND ADD THE BURDEN OF PROOF THAT YOU OR MR ANONYMOUS HAS. I MAY NOT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS BUT SOMEONE WOULD I CAN ASSURE YOU MY COMPATRIOT BROTHER. I AM NOT ACCUSING YOU OF PARTISAN POLITICS. THE ISSUE AT HAND IS QUITE CLOUDY.

BY THE WAY, I DO KNOW THAT MIMIKO GRADUATED FROM IFE AS A MEDICAL DOCTOR FOR I ALSO WENT TO IFE. HIS COLLEAGUES IN THE MEDICAL FIELD HAVE CONFIRMED THIS. WHAT YOU HAVE ASKED MIMIKO TO DO IS DEMEANING AND FROM WHAT YOU HAVE SAID SO FAR, I CANNOT ASCERTAIN WHAT YOU ARE ALLEGING.

MAYBE IF YOU TARRY A BIT, WHEN MIMIKO’S MANDATE IS REINSTATED, THEN LETS SEE WHAT YOU HAVE AGAINST HIM.

NOW BACK TO THE ISSUE AT HAND, DO YOU AGREE THAT MIMIKO WON THE APRIL ELECTIONS?

  50. Omotayloron 25 Oct 2007 at 11:03 am

@LESCO, BY THE WAY IT IS GOOD TO PLAY THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE, BUT WITH WHAT INTENT?

  51. fredon 25 Oct 2007 at 12:40 pm

My Brothers and Sisters, let us cool off temper and focus on the issue at hand. From all I have read, goodwill is meant. We shall all be victorious by God`s Grace, remember Victory for you and I is when someone who will cater for the good of the populace in Ondo State and Nigeria takes over the helm of affair. We can only contribute our little quota and I belief most of us on this site are living Abroad.
    Remain blessed.

Today in a landmark decision the Supreme Court voided the election of Sir Celestine Omeiha and decided that Hon. Rotimi Amaechi be sworn in immediately having won the primary election in PDP but was inexplicably substituted at the eleventh hour by the PDP with Sir Celestine Omeiha who did not participate in the primary elections. Amaechi subsequently went to the election tribunal where he failed; he went to the Court of Appeal and failed before the Supreme Court justified his tenacity and willingness to fight for his mandate. We hope such forthrightness will be demonstrated in the other election tribunal decisions particularly in Ondo State (Dr. R.O Mimiko – Labor Party) and Edo State (Comrade Adams Oshiomhole – Action Congress) 2 candidates amongst many whom many believed won their state’s elections but have been denied their mandate.

  54. Toyinon 26 Oct 2007 at 9:19 am

Please do not divert the attention of people from what matters most. Does it really matter what dates he graduated from school?
I am not a politician but I have been following the updates on this website on a regular basis and I appreciate the input of everyone. I live in Houston TX and I am continously praying for Victory in Ondo State. From the information I have gathered, I beleive Mimiko is the man of choice and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
To those who prefer not to disclose thier identity but know how to question the intergrity of others, If they are a man/woman of intergrity you will come out of hiding and let people know you. Let’s not pay attention to them, they are haters.
Omotaylor, Good Job on all your writings. Please dont pay attention to these people anymore. They dont have better things to do.
LET’S ALL FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS AND CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR VICTORY.

  55. Omotayloron 27 Oct 2007 at 11:12 am

Sister or Brother Toyin, I am indeed grateful for your words of wisdom and encouragement and I pray more like you join in fighting for truth and wisdom in Ondo State. God bless you.

We have always know and deep down know that God appointed Dr Mimiko to be governor in Ondo State and this will be a reality. THe Story of Mimiko and Agagu reminds me so much of the story of David and King Saul (from beginning to end). Saul was initially chosen by God but he became greedy and disobedient and lost it even psychologically. David was then annointed to replace him. David showed his spiritual prowess first by killing goliath and then winning so many other victories. He had to tarry, fight and hide for his life before he was finally crowned king when Saul was BEHEADED in battle (with his son Absalom). David ruled well, judiciously and died at an Old age. David was so loved by God that our Lord Jesus was chosen from the lineage of David’s father Jesse. Do you get the gist my people. Mimiko is David who shall get his mandate back and do good and justice to ALL in Ondo State.

I beleive Mr Annonymous and some others use different psuedo names on different websites. I am still looking into this and will revisit the issue of integrity later (by the way thanks Toyin for mentioning the issue of integrity). More on this will come later.

But for now, the main concern is Mimiko, the return of the stolen mandate and a new beginning for Ondo State.

God bless all just and truthful people in Ondo State.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

WHEN YOU ARE IN SEARCH OF TRUTH, AND DO NOT WANT TO SIT, WINE AND DINE WITH EVIL DOERS, IT WOULD BE NO SURPRISE THAT YOU COULD MOVE AROUND A BIT, BEFORE YOU FIND YOUR KIND OF PEOPLE, WHO SHARE YOUR VISION OF TRUTH, HARDWORK AND PROGRESS.

DONT SETTLE FOR LESS, WHEN THE SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR YOU.
YOU CAN GET IT IF YOU REALLY WANT BUT YOU MUST TRY TRY AND TRY, (JIMMY CLIFF).

MIMIKO, I THANK GOD FOR THE WISDOM HE GAVE YOU NOT TO BE “UNEQUALLY YOKED” WITH UNBELIEVERS. IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOU HAD TO MOVE FROM AD TO PDD TO LABOUR. AT LEAST THE WORLD NOW KNOWS WHAT pdp STOOD/STAND FOR IN NIGERIA. YOU HAD THE WISDOM OF GOD AND CHOSE WELL NOT TO REMAIN WITH DECEITFUL, SEMI CRAZED PEOPLE. I ADMIRE YOUR COURAGE AND FORSIGHT. I WILL NEVER SETTLE FOR THE COMPANY OF DECEITFUL, LYING, MURDEROUS, CORRUPT CHEATS. YOU ARE AN UPRIGHT MAN OF GREAT INTEGRITY AND GOOD CONSCIENCE. KEEP IT UP. DONT EVER SETTLE FOR LESS.

Thanks Mr Fred, but guess what I am not worried by any type of comments for we all stand to be educated and corrected and on the other hand expose our hidden agenda. The world is not foolish and Ondo State is full of wise sages, so no probs.

By the grace of God, Mimiko will get his mandate back and there will be signs of jubilation for all of us in Jesus name.

    Its all interesting.

I will stop posting here as I do not want to smear Mimiko’s campaign especially because of a suspicion which I may not be able to prove.

I still hold my opinion about Mimiko, Agagu and the majority of our current leaders in Nigeria but maybe I should take it personally with them rather than take out my anger on Mimiko’s campaign.

If Mimiko won last election, then let him become Governor.

I rest my case and sorry If I have offended anyone on this page.

Pray one day we shall be able to go back to Ondo State, Nigeria confident that we will be voting for the right leader.

    Interesting; Please read this piece.

    Anxiety Grips Governors

As Tribunal Delivers Judgment In Sokoto Tomorrow

Adamawa, Yobe, Sokoto, Delta, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Edo, Enugu, Ogun On The List

Opposition Warns Amaechi Not To Jubilate Yet
    BY EHICHIOYA EZOMON
PALPABLE fears have gripped several state officials, as there are strong indications that tribunals sitting at various state capitals may overturn more governorship elections.

The ruling of the Supreme Court last Thursday in Abuja, which removed Celestine Omehia as governor and replaced him with Rotimi Amaechi, is said to have compounded the fears of some governors with similar problems.

The anxiety is reportedly having its toll on governance, as the governors and their aides merely put up bold faces, but most of the times abandon duties to plot ways out of the legal haze surrounding their elections.

States on the watch list are Adamawa, Yobe, Sokoto, Delta, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Edo, Enugu and Ogun.

Even in Rivers, where Rotimi Amaechi last week won a gruelling legal fight to have his victory at the PDP primaries respected, the joys of his victory might be somehow muted, as he has to deal with an opposition challenge to the declared victory of the PDP at the polls.

In Adamawa State, Ibrahim Bapetel of the Action Congress is challenging the election of Murtala Nyako of the PDP on two grounds.

First, that he (Bapetel) was unlawfully excluded from the election by the INEC on the eve of the election. Two, that despite his exclusion, he still won the polls, and as such, he should be declared the winner of the election and sworn in as governor of the state.

Poll watchers hold that the first arm of Bapetel’s case could be likened to that of Prince Abubakar Audu of Kogi State, who was unlawfully excluded from the election and thus got a reprieve from the election tribunal.

But the second arm, of claiming to have won the election, is a constitutional matter, which might require interpretation by the Supreme Court.

In Yobe State, the election of Mamman Ali is threatened by alleged unlawful substitution of former ANPP candidate, Senator Usman Albashir, said to have led in the party primaries.

The morale of most top government officials in Damaturu, especially those of aides of the governor, is reportedly on low ebb, with the pace of government activities seemingly slowed down.

In Sokoto State, anxiety has gripped the populace, as the election tribunal delivers judgment tomorrow in the petition against the eligibility of Governor Aliyu Wammakko to contest the election.

The candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari, is questioning the governor’s alleged improper nomination by the PDP.

Wammakko had decamped from the ANPP and the PDP subsequently fielded him as its governorship candidate in place of former Minister, Muktar Shagari, who won the PDP primaries.

The DPP claims that Wammakko’s nomination, like that of his counterpart in Kebbi State, Alhaji Usman Dakingari, did not meet the timeframe as stipulated by the Electoral Act 2006.

It would be recalled that Dakingari’s election was annulled recently by the election tribunal because his nomination was filed out of time.

The DPP contended that as at the time the governor claimed to belong to the PDP, he still attended a meeting of the ANPP, as shown in the minutes of the meeting.

The party also revealed that Wammakko had filled, on the INEC form, both the ANPP and PDP as his sponsor for the governorship election.

Besides, the petitioners argued that the PDP had no deputy governorship candidate in the election. This is in breach of the 1999 Constitution.

In Delta State, the case of Mr. Peter Okocha against the election of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has gone on appeal.

The tribunal had dismissed the petition for lack of competence. Competence in the sense of Okocha lacking the locus to institute an action when he was allegedly not fielded by the Action Congress, as he claimed and having not contested the April 21 polls.

Likewise, in Ogun State, the tribunal technically knocked off the petition of the governorship candidate of the ANPP, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, thus confirming the election of Governor Gbenga Daniel.

The tribunal held that Amosun failed to disclose his age, qualification and nationality in his depositions, thus violating the provisions of the Electoral Act.

But while Daniel and his government savour the tribunal’s victory, Amosun is heading to the Appeal Court to challenge the reported over-reliance of the election tribunal in Abeokuta on technicalities, which the Supreme Court had clamped down on.

The governors of Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Edo, Enugu, Imo and Abia and a few other states face similar problems: alleged electoral irregularities and manipulation of results of the April 21 polls.

Aggrieved candidates of other political parties in these states – particularly the Action Congress, Labour Party (LP), ANPP and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) – have deposed to thousands of electoral documents and pieces of evidence of the manipulation of the elections by the PDP in collaboration with INEC officials and security agents.

These they want to prove at the tribunals and/or at the Appeal Court, as the case may be.

However, Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala has additional burden to discharge at the tribunal. This includes his alleged non-qualification for the election based on two legs:

That he was forced out of the Police Force on fraudulent acts; and that he was indicted by a judicial panel, set up by the administration of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja to probe his (Alao-Akala’s) former 11-month government after Ladoja was illegally impeached by the Oyo Assembly.

Rivers and Bayelsa are also being attacked at the tribunals by opposition parties, which alleged less voting and unimaginable high returns for the PDP candidates.

“Hence, it is not yet victory time for Rotimi Amaechi, who was installed on Thursday as governor of Rivers State,” an agitated opposition figure said last night in Lagos.

  62. T. Aon 28 Oct 2007 at 2:41 pm

Rigged governors shamelessly running to Yar Ardua to stem the flow of recent decisions against them by tribunals and the supreme court. Bet Agagu was first on the list of these faceless buffoons.
This is further evidence that these power hungry ninnies have something to hide. If they truly believe they won the election, surely the tribunal is an independent and judicial body that will arbitrate in favour of the true winner(s).

  63. Omotayloron 28 Oct 2007 at 6:39 pm

May the original winners of the polls in April win again and get their stolem mandate back. Oh yes you guessed right, I am talking about Mimiko. We all want him to get his stolen mandate back and by God he will. Fair is fair and I know that God is good.

Another Victory in Ondo State. Please read on

Court stops LG elections in Ondo
    Yinka Oladoyinbo, Akure – 02.11.2007

AN Akure High Court on Thursday restrained the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) from conducting the December 15 local government elections. The court also ruled that it had jurisdiction over the suit brought before it by members of the opposition parties in the state House of Assembly.

Ruling on an application for an order of perpetual injunction brought by the minority leader of the House, Honourable Dayo Akinsoyinu, and nine others, Justice Olarewaju Akeredolu overruled the objection of the counsel for the respondents, Dr. Kayode Olatoke. The plaintiffs had gone to court to challenge the nomination, appointment, confirmation and the consequently swearing in of Chief Elkanah Akintade and six others as chairman and members of the ODIEC by Governor Olusegun Agagu.

They said that all the appointees were card-carrying members of the PDP and would not be able to conduct free and fair local government polls in the state. Akeredolu, while assuming jurisdiction in the matter, overruled the objection of Olatoke, saying that numbering of affidavits was not sufficient to dispose of an application.

She added that defective and erroneous affidavit could be amended by leave of the court, adding that the affidavit was duly filed as provided in Section 84 of the Evidence Act. According to her, grounds for consideration of an application for interlocutory injunction are that claims were not frivolous, balance of convenience, maintenance of status quo, conduct of parties and inadequacy of payment of damages.

Kindly update us with the outcome of the tribunal sitting on the 2nd of November. The tribunal adjourned sitting to that date, and I have trawled every known forum for information on this but without success.
What is the current state of play?
    Kind regards

  67. Omotayloron 03 Nov 2007 at 5:34 pm

Right on T.A for I have also searched far and wide but no news of the sitting on the 2nd. Nevertheles from numerous phone calls and updates, I understand that we are winning because the going is good and the evidence of proof is massive. Unconfirmed reports have it that the “video evidences” by our group LP was rejected at court but has been accepted that we have more than enough other evidenes to prove that Agagu is a cheat, liar and thief (including PDP). Ondo state is rejoicing and hopeful and patiently awaiting the final verdict which we all want sooner than later.

We keep our fingers crossed, we pray on and we know deep down that the truth will triumph, Mimiko will be vindicated and given his mandate back, and Ondo State will have their wish which is to see Agagu out of Alagbaka, with his cohort of liars in their reign of deceit.

I hope we shall soon have some news. Good luck Mimiko, LP and all lovers of truth and justice in Ondo State. May God touch the hearts of the tribunal personnel.

  68. fredon 03 Nov 2007 at 7:33 pm

Yesterday`s (Nov. 2)sitting was favourable. The Tribunal accepted all the submissions from Mimiko without granting Agagu`s prayers of excluding some of the documents. So be of good Cheers.

Many thanks for the prompt update.

Why I treated my injury in Igbobi –Agagu
    By Our correspondent
    Published: Sunday, 4 Nov 2007
Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, has advised Nigerians to shun rumours capable of truncating the nation’s young democracy.

    File
    Governor Olusegun Agagu

Agagu gave the advice on Saturday in Akure during the State’s Peoples Democratic Party’s Caucus meeting.

The governor, who presided over the meeting, while reacting to reports in a section of the media that he had been flown abroad as a result of injuries he sustained, described rumour mongering as a destructive fire, that is not in the interest of the country and the people.

According to Dr. Agagu, he sustained a minor injury while playing a game of lawn tennis inside the Government House.

He said he decided to seek treatment at the newly equiped State Government Hospital instead of wasting the public money on seeking treament abroad.

The governor said he was suprised that rather than receiving praises from the people for seeking treatment in a government hospital, the people went to town with exagerated version of his injury. “I am a man who wants the system to work. If the state hospital was still in the same state it was years ago, they wouldnt have been able to treat me. If i didnt believe in Nigeria, i wouldn’t have allowed them to treat me at Igbobi. But rather than celebrate a man who believes in the system, they went to town with rumour that I had been flown abroad. This type of thing is not good for our nation and the people. It is capable of rubbishing all the gains of all these years of our struggle.”

Governor Agagu went on to implore Nigerians to cultivate the habit of celebrating positive stories about their leaders, which he described as tonic needed by good leaders to do more for the people and transform the nation.

While maintaining that such rumours will not deter him from his goal of transforming the lives of the people of Ondo State, Agagu said the people were yet to see the best of his government. He promised to complete all the major projects embarked upon by his government in good time.

  71. Omotayloron 05 Nov 2007 at 6:07 pm

I posted my comments about this above report on Agagu two days ago. For I was so disgusted at the gimmick of Agagu in trying to get into the news by all means. How much lower can a man stoop. Please visit this link:

or check for it under “Agagu plans large scale violence at … “.

We are more than conquerors and it shall be well. No Shakkinggggg. MIMIKO IS GOVERNOR, and so be it. E ku iroju ati suru. Weeping may have tarried for the night but joy sure comes in the morning. A new dawn will break soon in Ondo State.

  72. Omotayloron 06 Nov 2007 at 11:42 am

My dearest and best Ondo State and all inhabitants, patiently we wait, following the path of peace and justice. Patiently we wait for the vindication of His Excellency Dr Rahman Olusegun Mimiko who we all know won the April polls as Governor of Ondo State. One thing that has kept us going is the reassurance that the truth will prevail and the wicked will be served their just desserts.

Just yesterday, I read about President Yar’Adua subtly warning the petition tribunal to be careful but to let the truth prevail. In the same breath, he was reported to have said that he did not agree with some of the recent petition results but did not state which. I can only assume that he was referring to the inter PDP problems. This in no way has anything to do with the Ondo State tribunal. In Ondo State, yes Mimiko is the favored man, the man that the people voted for and gave the mandate. Mimiko is also the trusted man to lead Ondo State with the interest of the people at heart. Mimiko is the household name on everyones lips to win this petition because Mimiko is the victim in this saga while Agagu is the lying, cheating thief who thought because he had Obasanjo behind him, he could get away with murder.

Now as for OBJ imposing his illfated choices on the people of Nigeria, Patricia Etteh of the Ettehgate scandal is a vivid example of the evils of imposing the wrong person on us the people and Agagu is another example of the evil in our midst in ONDO state. The only difference between Agagu and Etteh is that Agagu has been stealing from Nigeria much longer than Etteh, but a thief is a thief, period.

The Election Petition Tribunal has so far behaved very Godly and just. They have refused to be bought over and have not been sucked in with covert attempts at bribery. I pray they follow this God fearing path to the end and not be intimidated or coerced by any powers that be. There is no power that can superceed the power of our Lord Jehovah. Let us all remember this all the time.

So we wait on in reverent patience and know tha soon and very soon, our Mandate will be given back. MIMIKO IS GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE.

  73. Adegoke Ebenezeron 07 Nov 2007 at 6:46 am

Thanks to all peace and truth lovers in Our Dearest Ondo State.
Please, whats the latest as regards the tribunal in the state?

  74. fredon 07 Nov 2007 at 2:59 pm

Mr Adegoke, PDP ASKED FOR 3WEEKS Tribunal granted one week which ended today and hearing begins from Tomorrow, November 8th 2007 with one hour submission from both sides. We all pray for good outcome very soon.
    All remain blessed.

  75. Omotayloron 07 Nov 2007 at 4:10 pm

Thanks for the update sir Fred for so many of us are really scouring the newspaper pages for news for we beleive that this petition thing should be reaching its final stages. What i find interesting is that PDP are not too keen on having this matter resolved quickly enough. This speaks volumes in itself. The winner will always want a quick result while the loser would want to defer their judgement day as much as possible. Now we know who is confident of victory and is rest assured that they have a good case in court. JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL

  76. Omotayloron 07 Nov 2007 at 6:09 pm

AGAGU should at least now agree that no matter what, the militants he struck a 500 million naira deal with to help him rig the April polls will not leave him to rest until they get their money. Agagu is in for a real shocker. Please read on:

    Quit now, LP tells Agagu

    SUNDAY KUDAISI, Akure

ONDO State chapter of Labour Party (LP) yesterday asked Gov. Olusegun Agagu to resign over the kidnapping of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Isaac Kekemeke on Monday, allegedly by some militants claiming to be members of the Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).

The SSG who was released later denied ever being abducted by MEND. The state government also said he was not kidnapped by anybody.

This was barely two months after 11 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Ese-Odo local government area of the state were also abducted.

But a statement issued by LP’s Director of Press, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, noted that the recent development coupled with that of the recent abduction saga in Ese-Odo had made nonsense of Agagu and the SSG’s strident claims in the media that they did not strike any deal with anybody in Ese-Odo or elsewhere to rig election.

LP said that contrary to their assertion that the SSG escaped abduction by a hair’s breath, which it described as a blatant lie; as he was actually kidnapped and was released by his abductors who disarmed his security details and took him in their boat to their camp deep into the creeks to meet their commander.

The party said that the unlucky SSG, himself an Ijaw, was later released after parting with the N2million found on him and promising to help facilitate the payment part of their agreed N500million.

“Our candid advice for Agagu is that he should have the grace to confess and resign before the very hands of God rest heavily on him.” Olabisi added

LP subsequently urged Dr Agagu to fulfill his contractual obligations to his rampaging supporters in order for them to go home as had been their prayers so that peace can once again return to the riverine communities of Ondo State .

He said: “A child that brings home an ant faggot infected should know how to contend with the riotous ants. A word is enough for the wise.”

It would be recalled that some militants claiming to be MEND members last September fingered Kekemeke as the person contacting them to facilitate the victory of the Agagu’s victory in Ese Odo local government over that of LP during the last April 14 poll.

They (the militants) insisted that a deal of N500 million was thereafter struck with them by Mr. Kekemeke on behalf of the governor if they delivered.

However, the state government yesterday described as untrue the abduction of the SSG on Monday as widely reported in the media.

The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief Eddy Olafeso admitted that the militants came to the Peoples Democratic Congress (PDP) at Arogbo Ijaw but never abducted Mr. Kekemeke.

Olafeso said there was no face-off that would warrant the abduction of the SSG nor disarmed the security operatives attached to the SSG as described by some media organizations.

His words, “the SSG was never arrested. He is a very good person among his people. He is an opinion leader so there is no basis for his people to kidnap him.”

The commissioner who spoke reporters in his office, cautioned newsmen to ensure that they promote peace rather than encourage violence through publishing unconfirmed stories.

Amen Amen and so shall it be. Mimiko Godw will vindicate you and by the grace of God you would not have suffered in vain. Just because you have been a real gentleman about all this, in order to focus on your vision and mission, is not to sayt that it has been easy. Joseph was sold into slavery so that God can actualise his prophecy in Joseph’s life, and he became the second most powerful man in Egypt. Hence in Genesis 45:7-8 Joseph was able to say

” 7And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

8So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. ”

What the wicked meant for evil for Mimiko and Ondo State, God has meant it for good in Jesus name (Amen).

I am happy to note that men of God or should I say God fearing people are coming out to declare what God has sanctioned and confirmed ages ago. When Jesus says yes, nobody can say no, and we or His Excellency would not need to run here or there, or turn left or right to seek something God has already ratified. God who has seen Dr Mimiko through all thick and thin for so many years will complete and bring to perfect completion what He has begun in the life of Dr Mimiko. As Tunde said above, it is all to the glory of God and not man, and Dr Mimiko does not need to chase after pastors or men, for woe is he that puts his trust in man. Whom God has blessed no man can curse, (neither can anyone bless whom God has cursed). My take is “Beware the leaven of the Pharisees. Let us all pray for Dr Mimiko, ourselves, LP, Ondo State and Nigeria by making a direct and divine connection with God, and not man. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

@Mr Oyewole, I guess your numbers are noted and if need be, His Excellency will contact you so you wont be needing his contact then. E ku ise Oluwa. Oluwa a so agbara dotun. Ota o ni ri wa gbe se, loruko Jesu. E se sir.

Your Excellency Dr Mimiko, God will give continue to enrich your wisdom, knowledge and understanding. God has returned your mandate and it is enroute back to you, wait for it. Your enemies are the enemies of God and my bible tells me that God will deal with everyone according to their inner minds and actions.

  93. Omotayloron 05 Jan 2008 at 5:23 pm

With God on our side as always, we have every cause to give glory to the living God, for sparing our lives, for us seeing the new year, for the promises and blessings He will bestow on his people and above all for the revelation of the truth in Ondo State. Just next week, the deliberations will resume and every day takes us nearer to it, so we again give Glory to God. We pray on, we expect the best and God will do the rest. Have a happy Sunday and as you go to church/mosque, please remember our elected governor Dr Mimiko in your prayers.

  94. Omotayloron 07 Jan 2008 at 2:43 pm

We pray on, we hope on. Deliberations continue in 4 days time. Let us all hope for the best. Iroko wa jo gba sibe, you are the real Iroko and every other one is a counterfeit. Your mandate is on its way back to you from the “borrower”.

  97. omotayloron 20 Mar 2008 at 11:27 pm

Takes a genius to recognise one o jare. good on you omotomike, Mimiko is not only physically head above the rest, he is morally, spiritually and politically on top of his peers, and like David had to wait and turn to God to over the menace of King Saul, who died a violent death in battle, to make way for David to be a very successful king with longetivity of life, so shall God give back to Mimiko, the stolen mandate. Everywhere I turn to in Ondo State and Nigeria, Mimiko is the household name, a man of God, a man of the people, a deserving and discerning Governor, who will soon move into Alagbaka and turn things around for good in Ondo State.

    Your Excellency,
God is with you. The mention of your nake invokes prayers. It is a manifestation of the support of the people who have been cheated of their votes and mandates. Most importantly, God sits on his throne and keeps watching the atrocities, injustices, and abuses being inflicted on not only you bul also on the innocent children and the disenfranched in our beloved state. But you know what? Our consolation is that he will judge rightly, rightciously, and equitably. So my Dear Brother, we wish you justice, victory and all the best that the Ondo State people deserve and desire in Jesus name. Amen. You are an accomplished man in your profession and in your calling, “The Governor” who is destined to serve and lead us out of the claws of Olusegun Lucifer Aremu Obasanjo. Keep hope alive for we believe in your leadership and service to mankind. Our children and grand children shall reap the reward of your Vision to make Ondo State the best-administered economic, industrial, and technology driven commercial hub of the Nigeria where equity, justice fairness and quality of life is sustained in both the rural and urban communities as a model for the rest of the country and beyond. Your “A CARING HEART” speake for you. Go and do them successfully because God Almighty is your guide. Sincerely,

Most importantly, God sits on his throne and keeps watching the atrocities, injustices, and abuses being inflicted on not only you but also on the innocent children and the disenfranchised in our beloved state. But you know what? Our consolation is that he will judge rightly, righteously, and equitably. Your “A CARING HEART” speaks for you. Go and do them successfully because God Almighty is your guide. Sincerely,
    Wole Alade

Ondo tribunal to give judgment on Thursday!

  102. Adewaleon 27 Aug 2008 at 2:19 am

    Listen all you sycophants.
Is Mimiko a Christian or Muslim or rather all of the above?
    RAHMAN OLUSEGUN ABAYOMI MIMIKO:
    A MUSLIM OR CHRISTIAN?

The above question became an imperative in the light of conflicting impressions about the actual religion of Rahman Olusegun Abayomi Mimiko, which appears to be fluctuating between Islam and Christianity since 1990 or thereabout, depending on the pendulum of political calculations of the political actor at specific points in time.
    • In 1990, Rahman Mimiko, a young medical doctor of about 34 years was about to marry. At the same time, he was scheming to become the Chairman of Ondo Local Government under the platform of the SDP. Suddenly, he metamorphosed from Islam to Christianity. Does that sound like a case of an emergency Christian?
    • After losing the chairmanship primary of the SDP in late 1990, the young politician with vaulting ambition quickly changed gear announcing his deputy governorship ambition under Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua. At this point in time he had started retracting his track as a Muslim, riding on the back of Muslim leaders in the state, to pick a cabinet slot, after failing to emerge as deputy governor. The then Chief Imam of Akure and other Muslim leaders were so disappointed to learn that “their Rahman Mimiko”, was the same as Olusegun Mimiko, worshiping at a parish of a well known Pentecostal church at Alagbaka in Akure.
    • The Christian aspect dominated the scene all through his tenure as Commissioner under both Governors Olumilua and Adefarati up till the time he rocked Adefarati’s boat, before jumping ship for a sojourn in the PDP.
    • As Agagu’s Secretary to the State Government, he remained Olusegun Mimiko, the Christian and that did not change until July, 2005, when he once again became Rahman Mimiko, following his appointment as a minister and his relocation to Abuja, a city considered to be under the influence of Northern Nigeria, as well as Islam.
    • After his ministerial slot, which started in controversy over misgivings with his boss, Governor Agagu and ended in confusion, considering his fallout with President Obasanjo, the non-conforming politician returned to Ondo State, once again born again as Olusegun Mimiko, the Christian.
    • He contested the Aprill 14, 2007 Gubernatorial Election in the state as Olusegun Mimiko, a Christian, with a Muslim, Alhaji Alli Olanusi as running mate.
    • After losing the election, he approached the tribunal as Rahman Olusegun Mimiko and from then on the game of fluctuating faith otherwise known as a little to the left and a little to the right of the religious divide started all over again.
    • Sequel to his pyrohic victory at the tribunal and feeling so insecured about the prospect of reversal of fortune at appeal level, attempts are now being made by the Smart Alex of Ondo State politics to portray himself to the North as a Muslim victim of circumstance, while still holding himself out to the predominantly Christian West as a messiah or at least a disciple.
Who will answer this nagging question, when and how: Is Rahman Olusegun Abayomi Mimiko a Christian, Muslim, pseudo Christian, pseudo Muslim or simply a Christ-lem?

  103. omotayloron 09 Sep 2008 at 12:15 pm

    Dear Adewale,

Your write up is well noted, although for me the veracity is yet to be confirmed, especially at this day and age when we hear a lot of mudslings when the going gets hot for the opposition. It is good to note that in your comment you have not shown or indicated where Governor Elect Rahman Olusegun Mimiko has gone worshipping in the mosque as a moslem, but rather I believe that you have partly answered your question,

““…their Rahman Mimiko”, was the same as Olusegun Mimiko, worshiping at a parish of a well known Pentecostal church at Alagbaka in Akure.”

I dont know if you are a Christian or muslim but I would rather you answer this question?

Was Apostle Paul a Jew (Hebrew) or Roman? For although in Acts of the Apostle 16 v 37-38 it is written:

“But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.
And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans”…
You never know Paul could have had a Roman father or mother or be of Roman descent geneoloically.

Now this same Paul in Acts 22 gave a full account of his conversion and why and said in verse 3:

“I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day”.

This I think gives the second part answer to your question.

For the benefit of doubt, can I please request proof of the Chief Imman of Akure registering dissapointment that Governor Elect Rahman Olusegun Mimiko is a Christian? I am sure that even if born into a Muslim Family, and a practicing Christian; you would not be suggesting that Governor Elect Rahman Olusegun Mimiko totally shuns his family or renounce them. It is a well known fact that Governor Elect Olusegun Mimiko is a practicing and devout CHRISTIAN, who at the same time, given his leadership qualities, would embrace the religions of his people of Ondo State and not despise anyone.

If for this he is considered a Christlem, so be it, but DOES THIS ERASE THE FACT THAT HE WON THE APRIL 2007 POLLS AND HAVE BEEN RETURNED THE UNQUESTIONED WINNER. Agagu is on borrowed time and all these politics of attempting to smear the name of MIMIKO will backfire for the TRUTH is what will prevail in Ondo State. The world is familiar with the game at hand and if you followed the Obama/Hilary Clinton race religiously, you will find that he whom God has destined for greatness and Leadership is bound to be a winner all the time.

Brother Adewale, if you are a Christian, please do me a favour and read Acts of the Apostles, chapters 12-14. Peace my brother.

IS THIS IROKO OF A THING A HUMAN BEING OR A PLANT? IS THIS IROKO OF A THING AN ONDO STATE INDIGENE OR AN IDIGENE OF KOGI STATE? IS THIS IROKO OF A THING AN IGBIRA MAN OR WHERE ON EARTH DOES MIMIKO COME UP AS AN ONDO NAME.
THIS MAN IS A GREAT LIAR OF OUR TIME.
SURELY, SURELY, YOU WILL NOT AND NEVER GET THERE IN JESUS NAME I PRAY AMEN.
    LET SOMEBODY SHOUT HALLELLUYAH.
LET ME ASK YOU THIS QUESTION, HOW CAN A POT BE CALLING A KETTLE BLACK, CAN YOU JUSTIFY THAT IROKO SINCERELY WON IN ONDO EAST AND WEST WHERE HE OWNS THE ASSEMBLY MEN THAT THERE WERE NO ELECTION MALPRACTICES VIZ – VIZ RIGGING OR MULTIPLE THUMP PRINTING?

  105. adminon 17 Oct 2008 at 6:13 pm

To Alex Adedoyin: Ignorance is bliss.

I could have deleted your comment without blicking, but I allowed it for several reasons. We are not closed to the idea of entertaining opposing view points, but be sure to engage us with some intelligence. Your comment reflects that typical and irritating shallow intellect behind all the statements coming from your camp.

Wasn’t Agagu in a better change to win the last election in Ondo state? Yes he was. In fact, it shouldn’t have been any contest between him and the opposition. But his handwork is not good, and the people can see that, and voted him out. So where are you coming from with your forked-tongued, Alex?

  106. fredon 18 Oct 2008 at 10:30 am

Admin, thank you for allowing Alex Adedoyin`s posting. this only shows democracy works even in Ondo State . However, I will suggest we should probably only allow one person, like you, to comment and correct, only one time, this sort of `wild` unintelligent view like this in the future (which you have eloquently done in this case) so as not to give importance to people like this.
I do not know since when an Igbira man (NOBLE PEOLPLE) is not human. This shows a very shallow mind and a low life .
Let us keep praying that court of appeal will do the right thing again and that our beloved Ondo State will get out of shackles of strings of misrule once and for all.

    All remained blessed.

  107. adminon 18 Oct 2008 at 11:27 am

Point taken Fred. Thanks for the good work and keeping on top of this.

I have been seeing an increased online activity from the PDP lately. They hare been busy propagating all sorts of falsehood and attacks on the Governor-elect, and even on Adrian Forty, the UK forensic expert used during the tribunal. Let’s be more vigilant.

  108. omotayloron 19 Oct 2008 at 9:40 am

Thanks to all truth loving and just personnel on this website and indeed in Ondo State. PDP activities lately is so well noted by all and sunder who know that Agagu is on his very last step in our Sunshine State. They are ever so mocked by the people and even some PDP followers are now declaring their allegiance to Mimiko. PDD = A CATFISH OUT OF WATER, GASPING, STRUGGLING AND FLAPPING HERE AND THERE. That is to say, Ondo State PDP, Agagu and their moribund followers are a DYING breed.

Your Excellency, Dr Rahman Oluisegun Mimiko, relax and just enjoy all the attacks and what have you. Shows how deep you have ruffled PDP feathers and what stuff you are really made of. You remind me of OBAMA, and by the way, have you all heard that Colin Powell has decided to endorse Obama? Well Dr Mimiko, it is God that ENDORSED you and our God never fails. Enjoy and rest a bit for now for the hard work is about to commence soon and very soon. Peace :)

  109. olaon 20 Oct 2008 at 9:37 am

Let us take a clue from the pre election in USA. John was busy criticising Obama. Obama keep winning the votes and confidence of the people while John keep lossing. That shows the stuff PDP is made up. They are men that leave the substance and keep chasing the shadow. Can you get a shadow? Obama is on the way to White house, Powell a republican decided to vote for Obama. so shall it be that the will all leave Agagu and come to Join the winning TEAM. Omotaylor you are a mature Individual/writer.

  110. omotayloron 22 Oct 2008 at 1:56 pm

Thank Ola for the compliment. It is my most fervent prayer that the wind of change, i.e. change from the corrupt and shameful state of affairs in Nigeria and particularly in Ondo State, is effected as the status quo in our dear motherland. What beats me is that all these people amassing ill gotten wealth like Abacha and co did, still have a lot to learn. In the Bible, we are told the story of the foolish rich man who after amassing so much wealth was not allowed to live and enjoy it. Real enjoyment is getting rich after you have worked ever so hard for it. With integrity and joy will you enjoy that money that you laboured for and you will always put it to good use. But treasury looters soon squander it all and are haunted for the rest of their lives and above all forfeit heaven. Well EFCC had better wake up to reality for EFCC was praised during the tenure of Nuhu Ribadu, so madam Waziri had better buck up for many Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora are now really keen on fighting corruption and bringing these shameful looters to books.

Now back to home news, my dear Sunshine Ondo State, glad to say many people from other states are openly declaring their respect for the person of Governor Elect Rahman Olusegun Mimiko and joining Labour Party. Iroko is here to stay and as a Daniel has come to justice, so has Mimiko come to rule. Only the evil people who have no intention to change their evil ways have something to fear in Ondo State. ~Even if you were evil and corrupt in the past but are willing to CHANGE, and serve the people, Mimiko will not witchhunt anybody. That is not the type of person he is. Our Man Mimiko is humble to the core, clean and focussed and dont forget that as his past records bear him witness, in terms of achieving and being proactive and dynamic, so his MISSION of Change in Ondo State will be actualised by the grace of God. I am confident in the truth that was declared by Nabaruma, being ratified by the appeal court. Peace :)

  111. omotayloron 22 Oct 2008 at 2:11 pm

To Admin, re your comment of 18th October, yes PDP are trying all the dirty propaganda they can muster, but one thing is sure, they did this in the past and it backfired. ~They are doing nothing new, really. Their Headbaba OBJ is their notorius headteacher and they are only proving to be a chip off the old block, but the HARDER THEY COME (pdp) THE HARDER THEY FALL. No one can contend against God and His righteous ways. The appeal court by now would know better than be compromised or bought over. No money in the world would change the truth in Ondo State. Agagu’s money REEKS, for it is mostly STOLEN MONEY. We have no fears for there is no skeleton in Mimiko/LP cupboards and it is our intention to maintain this and have nothing to fear in Ondo State under our worthy Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

For now I can only hear Sunny Ade singing “Let them Say” and Jesse King responding “Ohun to ba wun elenu ni ko fi enu re so”, and the whole of the truth and just loving people of Ondo State shouting – “GONGO ASO”. All these are directed at PDP/Agagu oh. Peace :)

    Your Excellency sir,
An adage in Yoruba says that when poverty plagues a man for several years, if it does not kill the man, it will leave him. Such has been our story in Ondo.

Freedom is never appreciated when freely given and I am fully persuaded that, that is why God has put us through our collective recent ordeal so that our enthusiasm for dynamic change can be strengthened. The change we overwhelmingly voted for in April, 2007. The day we said “ IROKO”

It is said that a child that abuse IROKO needs not look over his shoulder, IROKO will tarry, but triumph.

Your exellency, I now strongly believed that a leader’s courage to fulfill his vision comes from PASSION not position. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.

Our dear Governor, let me use this medium to congratulate you and salute your wisdom and self-restraint in the face of tyranny knowing fully well that you have the massive support that could easily have made Ondo burn.

Your exellency, as you assume your rightful place in the community of Governors, let not your victory be so sweet that you forget our struggle. The long draw struggle has what our appetite even more, it is only God’s grace and guidance that can see you through. This I pray you will get.

We can not wait to laugh in the faces of our detractors, sir, let look them in eye in no time and say, “see, let us march forward. Destiny waits.

    Congratulations!!!

  123. Bolaji Aiyejuyoon 03 Mar 2009 at 4:24 am

It is not over until you win. His Exellency, Olusegun Mimiko needs to build bridges and not walls across the state. In other word, he should bring everybody together irrespective of the political affiliation of the people of Ondo state. Congratulation once again.

  124. Omotayloron 03 Mar 2009 at 10:59 am

As long as His Excellency is also mindful that one cannot be too careful when it comes to bringing all on board, especially as there will always be no do gooders, innately corrupt and evil people that abound on planet earth.

Your Excellency, GOD HE IS THAT WILL give you that special spirit of discernment to make you bring all good people together. God will then Himself work on the evil sycophantic fools who am sure will now be the first to say they are and have always been “FRIENDS” of Mimiko.

“Ehimkule lota wa, sugbon inu ile ni aseni ngbe” i.e. the enemy is in one’s backyard, but the contender is right inside one’s house. Obama philosophy in America is good and yes I will enjoin His Excellency to follow suit, BUT, we are mindful of one fact – NIGERIA IS DIFFERENT FROM AMERICA, at least for now.

Deep down, no fears for God He is that has brought Governor Mimiko this far and God He is that will be his stay, succour and strength, now and forever. Ondo State will not be let down and EVERYONE in Ondo State will be grateful to God for the Exemplary governance of Dr Mimiko in the near future. Let the restoration work commence in peace. God will make this great burden on Governor Mimiko, an easy one for our Governor is an assidous person.

    Peace my people :)

My sincere and hearty congratulations to Dr. Olusegun Mimiko for his landslide victory as the new governor of our beloved State of Ondo. God has vindicated you and has installed you as the legitimate governor; I am confident and trust you will be ever so careful to do Him proud and to serve the people whom you’ve served since the beginning of your outstanding career. You are backed by a multitude of supporters and well-wishers; you will not falter in Jesus’ Name. As God has delivered President Barack H. Obama to the people of the United States, so has He delivered you to us. We got your back, Gov; and we’ll be there for you even to the presidency! Looking forward to meeting with you in June when I come to visit. Peace love and happiness. Long live Mimiko! God bless Ondo State, and God bless Nigeria!
